1 3/4 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
3 tablespoons pickle relish, drained
2 slices cheddar cheese, cut into 4 strips
8 hot dogs
Additional pickle relish, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 425ºF. Grease baking sheet. Mix Bisquick™, milk and mustard until soft dough forms; beat 30 seconds. Turn dough onto surface dusted with Bisquick™; roll in Bisquick™ to coat. Shape into ball; knead 10 times.
  • Roll dough into 13-inch circle; cut into 8 wedges. Place about 1 teaspoon pickle relish and 1 cheese strip on each wedge about 1 inch from rounded edge. Top with hot dog. Roll up, beginning at rounded edge. Place crescents, with tips underneath, on baking sheet.
  • Bake about 12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with additional pickle relish.

¼ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
8 hot dogs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Roll crescent roll dough onto a baking sheet. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese over dough. Lay a hot dog at the base of each triangle and roll dough around hot dog.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until rolls are golden and hot dogs are plump, about 12 minutes.

This recipe can be used to make either hamburger buns or hot dog buns. My husband says they are 'top of the line.' Nice and soft.

1 cup milk
½ cup water
¼ cup butter
4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 (.25 ounce) package instant yeast
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 egg

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, heat milk, water and butter until very warm, 120 degrees F (50 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together 1 3/4 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt. Mix milk mixture into flour mixture, and then mix in egg. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
  • Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape into smooth balls, and place on a greased baking sheet. Flatten slightly. Cover, and let rise for 30 to 35 minutes.
  • Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • For Hot Dog Buns: Shape each piece into a 6x4 inch rectangle. Starting with the longer side, roll up tightly, and pinch edges and ends to seal. Let rise about 20 to 25 minutes. Bake as above. These buns are pretty big. I usually make 16 instead of 12.

1/4 cup chopped onion, if desired
1/2 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
Ketchup and mustard, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray. Layer hot dog pieces and onion in pie plate.
  • In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, milk and eggs with wire whisk or fork until blended. Pour into pie plate. Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Serve with ketchup and mustard.

1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast (1 Tbs.)
2/3 cup warm water (105 to 115 F)
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
2 3/4 cups Bisquick baking mix
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup currants
1/4 cup chopped citron
quick icing (recipe below)
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1 -2 teaspoon water

Steps:

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water in large mixer bowl. Add egg, sugar and 1 12 cups of the baking mix.
  • Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat 2 minutes medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
  • Stir in remaining baking mix, the cinnamon, nutmeg, currants and citron; beat vigorously 1/2 minute.
  • Spoon dough into 12 greased medium muffin cups. Cover and let rise in warm place until double, about 1 hour.
  • Heat oven to 375°F Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Make a cross on each bun with Quick icing. 12 buns.
  • Quick Icing, blend 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar ad 1 to 2 teaspoon water.
