- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
- Combine cake mix, chocolate chips, walnuts, milk, applesauce, and egg in a large bowl. Pour into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.

These cake mix brownies are a mashup of two of my favorite desserts. A woman I worked with gave me a recipe for chocolate caramel brownies, and I have a recipe for yellow cake mix bars. - Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 13x9-in. baking pan with parchment; grease paper. In a large bowl, beat chocolate cake mix, melted butter and 1/3 cup evaporated milk until blended; batter will be thick. Reserve 1/4 cup batter for topping. Spread remaining batter into prepared pan. Bake 6 minutes. Meanwhile, in a microwave, melt caramel bits and remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk; stir until smooth. Sprinkle hot chocolate crust with semisweet chips; pour caramel mixture over top. Set aside. In another large bowl, beat yellow cake mix, egg and 1/2 cup softened butter until combined; batter will be thick. Reserve half for topping. Crumble remaining mixture over caramel layer. Bake 6 minutes. In a microwave, melt sweetened condensed milk, milk chocolate chips and the remaining 1 tablespoon softened butter; stir until smooth. Pour over yellow cake layer. Sprinkle with reserved yellow and chocolate cake batters. Bake until top is golden brown, 20-25 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container.

- In a large bowl, mix the 1st 4 ingredients by hand till blended. Set aside.
- In a saucepan, or microwave, melt the chocolate chips, add sweetened condensed milk and stir till completely blended. Add to cake mixture, mix by hand till well blended.
- Pour in 9x13 pan that has been sprayed by cooking spray.
- Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes. Let cool, cut into squares.
- You might want to add chips, nuts, or use yellow cake mix, and white chocolate chips to make blondies.

CARAMEL BROWNIES MADE WITH A CAKE MIX RECIPE
These Cake Mix Caramel Brownies are so easy to make and full of chocolatey, fudgy flavor. If you are a caramel and brownie fan, then this recipe has your name written all over it.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Peel caramels and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir in 1/2 cup evaporated milk. Heat and stir until all caramels are melted (you can also do this on the stove-top over low heat- just keep stirring until caramels are melted).
- Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan (and when I say grease it, I mean it! These tend to be sticky, so grease it well. You may also want to grease the sides of the pan to prevent the caramel from sticking).
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, melted butter, and chopped pecans. The dough will be VERY thick and kind of hard to stir- that means that you made it right! Place 1/2 of the batter in prepared baking pan. I sprayed my fingers with non-stick cooking spray and spread it in the bottom of the pan using my hands.
- Bake for 8 minutes.
- Place the remaining batter into the fridge. Remove brownies from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Drizzle caramel sauce over chocolate chips. Remove brownie mix from refrigerator. Using a teaspoon, make small balls with the batter and smash flat. Very carefully, place on top of the caramel sauce until the top is completely covered. With the batter being so thick, I places little teaspoonfuls all over the top and then carefully pushed them together to cover the caramel. It doesn't look very pretty, but they will still taste amazing.
- Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes. Remove and let cool. It is best to wait until the brownies are cooled to cut into them (it will be hard, but trust me- they are so worth the wait!).

- Mix the egg, water and nuts in a large bowl.
- Add the dry cake mix; stir well, but don't overbeat. If the batter needs a litle more water, add a teaspoonful at a time. But don't add too much because the batter should be thick. Don't overmix - just mix enough so that there is no "powder" showing.
- Pour into the prepared pan, being sure to smooth the top evenly.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes for chewy brownies; if you like them a little drier, bake a few minutes longer.
