This is a variation of a cake batter puppy chow mix. I like to bring this to gatherings because it is too addictive to keep at home! I like to use Crispix® for the shape, but you can use rice or corn Chex®. Store this in a sealed zipper bag or plastic container.

Ingredients

5 ounces vanilla-flavored candy coating (almond bark), chopped
2 tablespoons shortening
5 cups crispy corn and rice cereal (such as Crispix®)
1 ½ cups white cake mix with colored sprinkles
½ cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons colored sprinkles, or more to taste

Steps:

Combine vanilla almond bark and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in microwave stirring every 30 seconds until mixture is smooth, about 90 seconds total.
Place corn and rice cereal in a large bowl. Slowly pour the almond bark mixture over the cereal, stirring often to completely coat. Add cake mix and confectioners' sugar to cereal mixture; toss to coat. Shake sprinkles over the puppy chow.

Ingredients

5 cups Chex cereal (I used Rice Chex, but Corn Chex would work great!)
10 ounces (5 squares) vanilla flavored Almond Bark
1 1/2 cups Funfetti cake mix
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vegetable shortening

Steps:

Melt Almond Bark according to package directions, adding vegetable shortening to thin it out.
Pour the cereal into a large bowl and drizzle the melted Almond Bark over the cereal.
Mix gently with a large spoon or spatula. Dump the cake mix and powdered sugar onto the cereal and mix gently with large spoon until all the cereal is evenly coated.

In another large bowl or pot, combine the sprinkles, dry cake mix, and confectioners’ sugar (use less sugar if you’re not into crazy sweet things) and stir to combine.
In a medium-size microwave-safe bowl, heat the white chocolate and shortening at 50% power in 30-second increments until melted, stirring well after each increment, about 90 seconds total. Be sure to watch it carefully as white chocolate tends to seize quickly. (Alternately, you can melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water.)
Immediately pour the melted chocolate over the cereal mixture and gently stir to coat with a rubber spatula. Be careful to not crush the cereal.
