CHICKEN JERKY TREATS FOR DOGS

Steps:

• Preheat oven to 170-180 degrees Fahrenheit or lowest temperature setting.
• Lightly grease a cookie sheet, using one with a slight edge because there will be water and juices from the chicken during the first hour of cooking.
• Slice chicken breasts in strips no more than ¼-inch thick.
• Place slices on a greased cookie sheet, leaving at least a ½-inch between slices.
• Bake for two hours. After two hours, check the slices and see if they're dry.
• Continue baking until slices appear very dried.
• When done, remove the treats from the oven and cool on a drying rack.
• When the treats are completely cool, bag in zippered bags or place in an airtight container and refrigerate.

CHICKEN JERKY FOR DOGS

Steps:

• Preheat oven to 250ºF.
• Grease a wire rack with olive oil (or coconut oil) and place on top of a cookie sheet. This will allow the air to circulate as the chicken is dehydrating. Set aside.
• Trim chicken of all visible fat.
• Slice the chicken 1/8th inch to 1/4 inch thick.
• Place the chicken slices on a rack and cook for 2 hours *(check them after an hour and then every thirty minutes or so. Everyone's oven can vary a little, so after you make them once you can adjust the time as necessary).
• Flip them over after 2 hours and continue to dehydrate in the oven for another 45 minutes, or until fully crisp.

Steps:

• Instructions: Preheat oven to 200° F Lightly grease a baking sheet. Rinse off chicken breast and remove any fat. Slice the chicken with the grain. This will help make the jerky even chewier for your dog. The slices should be very thin, about 1/8" to 1/4" thickness. Place the strips on the baking sheet. Bake for approximately 2 hours (see note below). Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack until completely cool. Cut strips into bite sized pieces. Storing: These homemade dog treats may not last long enough to be stored because they are so good. But, just in case they do, store them in the refrigerator for 3 weeks. • Preheat oven to 200°F.
• Slice the chicken into thin strips. You should end up with about 7 or 8 slices.
• Place chicken slices on a baking sheet and bake for 2 to 2 1/2 hours to remove moisture (cooking time will depend on thickness of chicken and whether chicken is refrigerated or warm from oven. I baked raw chicken until no longer pink then allowed it to cool enough to be handled before slicing into strips).
• Allow to cool.
