These cute little cookies are chewy, loaded with flavor, and slathered with amazing dreamsicle frosting, the perfect combination of orange and vanilla!

3 cups Flour (all-purpose flour works great)
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
1 cup Butter (Room temperature)
1 1/2 cup Sugar (White Granulated )
2 large Eggs (large)
3/4 tsp Orange Extract
1/2 cup Butter (room temperature)
2 Tablespoons Orange Juice
1/2 tsp Orange Extract
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract (Pure extract if possible)
3 cups Powdered Sugar (plus 1/2 cup if needed)
2 Tablespoons Orange Zest (zest from 2 oranges)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
  • Beat the butter, sugar, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl until creamy. Add the eggs and then beat well again. Gradually mix the flour mixture into the butter mixture until all ingredients are combined.
  • Roll the cookie dough into balls, about 1 1/2" cookie dough balls and place on a large greased baking sheet.
  • Bake in a preheated 325-degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are barely golden brown.
  • Let the cookies cool for a couple of minutes on the baking sheet and then transfer to a wire baking rack. Let the cookie cool completely before frosting.

These delicious cookies will remind you of an orange Creamsicle®. I created it by combining two of my favorite recipes. It is a family favorite!

1 ¼ cups white sugar
1 cup butter
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange extract
5 drops yellow food coloring
2 drops red food coloring
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 (12 ounce) package white chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease 2 cookie sheets.
  • Combine sugar and butter in a large bowl; beat with an electric mixer until creamy. Beat in egg yolks, extracts, and food coloring. Stir in flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Add white chocolate chips.
  • Form dough into balls and arrange on the prepared cookie sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until edges turn golden, 10 to 11 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool on the cookie sheets for 1 to 2 minutes before transferring to cooling racks.

It all starts with a tender sugar cookie base flavored with orange and vanilla extract. White vanilla baking chips add sweet creaminess, and the orange tint is a fun touch that's easy to pull off with a little food coloring. So no matter the time of year, you can always surprise the kids with a treat that'll bring back the sweet days of summer!

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon orange extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
5 drops yellow food color
2 drops red food color
1 1/2 cups white vanilla baking chips

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. In a small bowl, whisk egg, food coloring, vanilla and orange extract. In large bowl, mix butter and sugar cookie mix until well blended. Then, mix in egg and food coloring mixture. Once soft dough has formed, stir in baking chips.
  • On ungreased cookie sheets, drop dough with 1 1/2 tablespoon-size cookie scoop or by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake 9 to 10 minutes or just until dough is set (do not overbake). Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely.

1/2 cup orange drink mix (dry Tang orange crystals)
3/4 cup sugar
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 egg
1 1/2 cups vanilla chips

Steps:

  • Beat margarine, sugar and tang until well blended.
  • Add egg and mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Add dry ingredients and mix.
  • Stir in vanilla chips.
  • Drop by tablespoon full onto a greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 375°F for 12 to 14 minutes.

Cookie mix in a quart jar for gift giving. Layer ingredients in a 1 quart wide mouth jar in order given. Press each layer firmly before adding next ingredient. Attach a card to jar with the recipe directions on it.

1/2 cup Tang orange crystals
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups vanilla chips
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2-1 cup butter or 1/2-1 cup margarine, very soft
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix together flour, baking soda and baking powder.
  • Empty jar of cookie mix into large mixing bowl.
  • Use your hands to thoroughly blend mix.
  • Mix until completely blended, finish mixing with your hands.
  • Shape into balls the size of walnuts.
  • Place 2" apart on sprayed bake sheet.
  • Bake at 375 for 12-14 minutes until tops are very lightly browned.
  • Cool 5 minutes on bake sheet then move to rack.
