When I was a young girl, ham make appearances at all of our holiday dinners. The old-fashioned flavor reminds folks of Grandma's kitchen. -Betty Butler, Union Bridge, Maryland

1 can (20 ounces) sliced pineapple
1/2 spiral-sliced fully cooked bone-in ham (8 to 10 pounds)
2/3 cup maraschino cherries
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

Steps:

  • Drain pineapple, reserving juice. Place ham on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Secure pineapple and cherries to ham with toothpicks. Combine brown sugar and seasoned salt; rub over ham. Gently pour pineapple juice over ham., Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 1-1/2 to 2 hours or until a thermometer reads 140° and ham is heated through. Baste frequently with brown sugar mixture.

Easy Holiday Ham image

I was tired of using the cola ham glaze that I had made so many times in the past, so I created this glaze on a ham we made during Thanksgiving. This ham was so popular that I am making the same exact ham for Easter.

1 cup boysenberry syrup
½ cup Dijon mustard
1 (10 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Stir boysenberry syrup and Dijon mustard together in a bowl until glaze is well-combined.
  • Place ham, cut-side down, on a rack in a roasting pan. Generously brush about 1/2 of the glaze over the ham and cover ham loosely with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until almost completely heated through, about 3 hours. Remove and discard aluminum foil, brush ham with remaining glaze, and continue baking until ham is completely heated through, 25 to 30 minutes more.

1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
Zest and juice of 1 orange
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
6 to 8 scrapes of fresh nutmeg, using a rasp
One 6- to 7-pound bone-in half spiral ham
10 to 12 sprigs fresh thyme
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, honey, orange zest, 1/4 cup orange juice, pumpkin pie spice, and nutmeg. Season with salt.
  • Roll out enough aluminum foil to surround the ham and place the ham in the center of the foil. Peel back the layers of the ham and place a sprig of thyme between every other layer of the spirals. Pour half of the glaze over the ham allowing it to sink into the slices. Tightly wrap the ham in the foil and place on a rack in a roasting pan. Fill the pan with an inch of water and roast in the oven until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees F, about 20 minutes per pound.
  • Pour the remaining half of the glaze in a small saucepot on medium heat and bring to a simmer. Whisk until small bubbles appear all over, then turn off the heat. The glaze will thicken as it rests.
  • Raise the oven temperature to 400 degrees F.
  • Remove the ham from the oven. Using caution and tongs to help, peel back the aluminum foil from the top, leaving the aluminum foil on the sides and underneath the ham to catch the glaze and juices. Slather the remaining glaze all over the top of the ham and place back in the oven uncovered for 15 more minutes. Remove and let rest before slicing.

1/4 cup apricot preserves
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°. Place ham on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Using a sharp knife, score surface of ham with 1/4-in.-deep cuts in a diamond pattern; insert a clove in each diamond. Bake, uncovered, 1-1/4 hours., Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine preserves, butter and mustard; heat through. Remove ham from oven. Spoon preserves mixture over ham.
