SIMPLE OMELET FOR KIDS



Simple Omelet for Kids image

This omelet recipe for kids is so easy, they will start wanting to make it themselves. Learn the trick to perfecting this egg dish every time.

Cooking spray (or butter)
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon water
1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ​freshly ground black pepper
Meat or vegetables (like cut up sausage, onions, bell peppers, spinach , etc.), optional
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Spray a 10- or 12-inch non-stick or cast iron skillet with a thin coating of cooking spray and heat over medium heat.
  • Beat eggs, water, salt, and pepper until light and fluffy.
  • When skillet is hot (but not smoking), pour egg mixture in.
  • As omelet starts to set, lift an edge of the omelet with a clean spatula and tilt pan so that the runny, unset portion of omelet can run underneath and start to set.
  • Repeat on opposite side.
  • If adding vegetables or meats, do so now.
  • When omelet is just about completely set, sprinkle the cheese over half of the omelet.
  • Then fold other half of omelet over the cheese half.
  • Slide onto a plate and serve immediately.

Basic Omelette image

This is a very simple omelette for one. If you are going to add any fillings, make sure to prepare them ahead of time. Feta cheese and dill is a favourite of mine.

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 large eggs
salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon oil or 1 tablespoon butter, for frying

Steps:

  • Crack the eggs into a small bowl and whisk.
  • Add some salt and pepper, if you like, but do not add any water, milk, or any other liquids.
  • Heat the oil or butter in a 9-inch non-stick frying pan and pour in the eggs.
  • In the first 30-seconds of cooking, use a spatula to create 6-10 small cuts through the omelette.
  • This allows the uncooked egg on the top to flow down to the bottom of the pan.
  • When the top is nearly set, sprinkle any fillings over half of the omelette and turn off the heat.
  • Don't worry if some of the egg in the very centre isn't quite set, because the ambient heat will soon cook it.
  • Use your spatula to flip one half of the omelette over the other and serve immediately.

Easy kids' omelette image

Rustle up this omelette for your little one. Suitable from 6 months, it's a great first food to get weaning children familiar with new tastes and textures

1 knob of butter
1 tomato, deseeded and diced
1 tsp dried oregano
2-3 eggs
approx 30g grated cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Melt half of the butter in a frying pan then add the tomato and oregano, cooking it for 2-3 minutes. Remove to a plate and wipe the frying pan clean.
  • Whisk the eggs together, melt the remaining butter in the frying pan then add the eggs.
  • Cook on a low heat, using a spatula to lift the sides up and allow the raw egg to escape out the sides (this gives you a fluffier omelette).
  • After 2 minutes place the tomato and cheese across half of the omelette. Cook for a further minute then remove from the heat. Flip the free half of the omelette over the tomato and cheese half.
  • Cut into fingers for baby to serve themselves.
