I cut this out of the TV Guide in 1984, it was a feature on celebritie's favourite recipes and this was Howie Mandel's contribution. Sometimes I use red and green smarties for Christmas or pastel ones for Easter. Reeces Pieces are good in these too.

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup golden brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup smarties candies

Steps:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Cream butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla, beat till smooth.
Stir in flour, soda and salt, blend well.
Gently fold in smarties.
Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet 2" apart.
Bake 8- 10 minutes.

These cookies have Smarties candies in them instead of chocolate or other sweet flavored chips. Kids love them, and they're a nice change of pace.

Ingredients

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups smarties candies

Steps:

Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla well.
Sift together flour, soda and salt.
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.
Mix well.
Stir in Smarties.
Drop by teaspoon fulls on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 375F for 10-12 minutes.

1 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups smarties candies (called M&M's in the U.S.)

Steps:

Cream together margarine and both sugars until smooth.
Add vanilla; mix well.
Add eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
Mix flour, baking soda and salt together; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
Stir in Smarties.
Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto baking sheet.
Bake at 350°F for 9-11 minutes until golden brown.
