Grandmas Surprise Kisses Recipes
SURPRISE KISSES
I received this recipe back when I was in the 7th grade in my homemaking class and I have somehow managed to keep it this long. I guess the recipe is just that good. I make these cookies for Thanksgiving and Christmas and if I even think about skipping one year I get in trouble from my husband and friends!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl until fluffy.
- Gradually add in the flour and chopped pecans.
- Take about 1 Tbs.
- of the dough and roll into a ball.
- Press the dough down in the palm of your hand.
- Take a Hershey's Kiss and place it in the middle of your dough.
- Bring the sides of the dough up and around the Hershey's Kiss.
- Once the candy is completely surrounded by the dough, roll it again in the palm of your hands until a ball forms.
- Repeat this step until you use all of your candy or until all of your dough is gone.
- Place cookies on an un-greased cookie sheet and bake for only 10-11 minutes.
- Once cookies are completely cooled, roll them in the powdered sugar and ENJOY!
GRANDMA'S LEMON KISSES
Steps:
- Mix flour, baking soda, and salt into mixing bowl and set aside. Cream butter, sugar and egg until fluffy. Beat in lemon juice and lemon peel. Gradually add dry ingredients.
- Ball dough on wax paper and roll into a log. Cut into 1/4 in. slices and place on a regular cookie sheet (do not use nonstick). Sprinkle with sugar.
- Cook for 12 minutes at 315 degrees F.

Steps:
- Place egg whites in a large bowl; let stand for 30 minutes. Add the vanilla, cream of tartar and salt; beat on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating on high until stiff glossy peaks form and sugar is dissolved, about 6 minutes. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts. , Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake at 250° for 40-45 minutes or until firm to the touch. Turn oven off; leave meringues in oven for 1-1/2 hours. Remove to wire racks. Store in an airtight container.
