The alcohol basically pulls the essence of the herb or flower into its solution and "suspends" it there to use at a later time. Tinctures can sometimes be purchased readymade from health food stores. - Gently"bruise" the rosemary strips by"hammering" very gently on the same.
- Use your fist to do this on a wood cutting board.
- Take an amber or dark glass bottle and pour the alcohol in it.
- Add the cut and bruised rosemary strips to it.
- Cover the bottle with its cap.
- Shake vigorously for a minute.
- Place in a cool and dark place for 6-8 weeks{shake for a minute every week}.
- Strain the"tincture" from the remaining plant pieces.
- Store in a cool and dark place.
