ALEA'S SLOW COOKER HONEY GLAZED HAM
Alea Milham says, "I love being able to serve Sunday dinner shortly after arriving home from church. But I don't like leaving the oven on while we are gone. I do feel comfortable leaving the slow cooker on, so I occasionally use it to make Honey Glazed Ham. I can cook the ham for one hour on high, then turn it to low before we leave and arrive home to a delicious ham. Once home, all I have to do is quickly saute some veggies to go with the ham while my husband slices it and my kids set the table. Then we can sit down and enjoy a low-labor, but fairly elegant Sunday dinner. I do not use spiral sliced hams because they tend to dry out in the cooking process. Plus spiral sliced hams tend to be more expensive. You can save money by buying an uncut and unglazed ham and creating the glaze yourself. Steps:
- Place water in the bottom of the slow cooker. Place ham in the slow cooker. Place lid on top and cook on HIGH for 1 hour.
- In a small pan, combine brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, orange juice and orange peel. Cook over medium heat until it reaches a boil.
- Drizzle honey mixture over ham.
- Lower the temperature on the slow cooker to LOW heat and cook for 3 hours.
- Slice and serve.
- Even a small ham produces a lot of meat. I use the leftover ham in recipes throughout the week. I save the ham bone to use in soup. Leftover ham can also be frozen and then thawed for an easy dinner on a busy night.

SLOW-COOKED HONEY-GLAZED HAM
The secret of this tender honey-baked ham is slow cooking. I start it in a low temp oven around 6 p.m. the night before if used for breakfast. If used for dinner, it can be started later in the evening, turned off and restarted the next morning. Don't use a spiral-sliced ham because it will dry out.

Steps:
- Blend brown sugar, honey, molasses, orange juice, and mustard together in a saucepan over medium-low heat until thickened, about 45 minutes. Remove from heat. Let glaze sit until flavors blend, 8 hours to overnight.
- Preheat oven to 225 degrees F (110 degrees C). Place ham in a roasting pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven, checking occasionally, about 10 hours. If ham begins to darken at that point, cover with aluminum foil. Continue baking, about 2 hours more.
- Increase oven temperature to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C). Bake, coating ham thoroughly with the glaze mixture every 30 minutes, about 2 hours more. Remove from the oven and let stand 15 to 20 minutes before slicing. Serve any remaining glaze with ham, if desired.

Steps:
- Spray the slow cooker insert with cooking spray and place ham inside.
- Combine honey, brown sugar, mustard, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, whisking thoroughly, until sugar is melted and ingredients are combined, 2 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Pour water into the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour sauce over the ham. Cover.
- Cook in the slow cooker on Low, 6 to 8 hours. Baste the ham with the juices from the bottom once every hour.
- Remove ham from the slow cooker. Pour juices from the bottom into a saucepan over medium heat. Mix cornstarch and water together in a bowl and pour into the saucepan. Cook until mixture thickens into a glaze, 6 to 8 minutes. Pour glaze over the ham or use as a gravy.
