Simple, basic air-fried chicken strips that are crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed full of flavor. Dip in ranch or your favorite dipping sauce.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 large egg
1 ½ pounds chicken tenderloins
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Preheat an air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Combine flour, paprika, parsley, seasoned salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Beat egg in a separate bowl.
  • Dredge each chicken strip first in the seasoned flour, then in beaten egg, then back in the seasoned flour.
  • Place as many strips in the basket as you can without overcrowding. Lightly mist the tops of the strips with cooking spray. Cook for 8 minutes. Flip strips over and lightly mist the tops with more cooking spray. Cook for 8 minutes more. Repeat with any remaining strips.

2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon ground thyme
1 teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
2 (12 ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

Steps:

  • Combine paprika, thyme, cumin, cayenne pepper, onion powder, black pepper, and salt together in a bowl. Transfer spice mixture to a flat plate.
  • Rub oil over each chicken breast until fully coated. Roll each piece of chicken in blackening spice mixture, making sure to press down so spice sticks on all sides. Let sit for 5 minutes while you preheat the air fryer.
  • Preheat an air fryer to 360 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 5 minutes.
  • Place chicken in the basket of the air fryer and cook for 10 minutes. Flip and cook an additional 10 minutes. Transfer chicken to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Who doesn't love chicken strips? They're a great lunch item or appetizer. I find spraying the tenderloins with nonstick spray ensures a golden crisp exterior.

1 ½ pounds chicken tenderloins
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup panko bread crumbs
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon adobo seasoning (such as Goya®), or more to taste
1 teaspoon Mexican seasoning mix (such as Goya® Sazonador Total)
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Remove membrane from each chicken tenderloin. Soak chicken tenderloins in buttermilk for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Preheat an air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Combine panko, flour, adobo seasoning, and Mexican seasoning in a bowl. Mix well. Drain off the buttermilk and press tenderloins into the panko mixture.
  • Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place tenderloins into the air fryer basket and spray with cooking spray. Air fry for 8 minutes. Flip each tenderloin and spray again. Air fry for 8 minutes. Shake basket and spray tenderloins once more. Air fry for 4 more minutes.
