200 g black chickpeas (kala chana)
1 onion (chopped)
10 g garlic (cloves)
10 g ginger (sliced)
salt
red pepper
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
2 tomatoes (cubed)
2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons coriander leaves (chopped)

Steps:

  • Soak Chana for 8 to 10 hours. Wash under tap water. Keep it for boiling in a pressure cooker in 4 to 5 cups of water. Add salt, red pepper,onion,garlic,gingercriander powder and turmeric powder. Close lid and cook for 45 minutes after the pressure builds in the cooker.
  • when chana is done then evaporate water.
  • and add tomatoes and oil and stir almost 5 minc.
  • now add 3-4 cup water and bring a boil. and leave it for 20 minutes.
  • now cheeck the gravy and add coriander leaves and serve with rice or roties.

  • Soak the black chana overnight. Cook in a pressure cooker with cubed potatoes and black salt. Add enough water to cover the chana and potatoes. Cook till chana are well cooked and potatoes are slightly mushy.
  • Add chopped onion and fry for about 4-5 minutes on low heat. Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes away. Now add the tomatoes with green chillies (as per taste) and saute for another 8-10 minutes. Cool and blend this paste.
  • Now in the same pan pour this masala paste. Add boiled chana with potatoes and about 1-2 cups of water for the gravy. Add in the spice powders -- turmeric, garam masala, coriander, amchur, cumin and chilli powder (optional). Taste and adjust salt.

  • In a kadai add in oil once the oil heats up add in Cloves, Cinnamon stick, and bay leaves let them fry and then add in chopped ginger and garlic pastes and fry for a min.
  • Next add in chopped onions and tomatoes and fry well till the onions and tomatoes are cooked and then add in the cooked black channa mix well and then add in Chilli powder, Garam Masala Powder, and Salt and mix well fry for about a minute.
