SERVIETTE/NAPKIN, CUTLERY WRAP
My interest in serviette folding was born on a wet day at my Grandmother's house, I was a pre teen and helping her with the ironing and watched while she ironed serviettes into wonderful shapes and neatly stacked them for use. I asked her to show me how and she did. Once you know several folds and people see them, they often have at least one other that you haven't seen before, you gain knowledge of the new one and on it goes. Now that I have already posted all the napkin folds I know, I decided to look on the net for some new ones to learn. This one is a simple wrap for your cutlery or silverware.

Steps:
- Lay your serviette square out flat before you. Fold it in half horizontally.
- Take the serviette and fold it in half again vertically so that it is now a small square a quarter the size of the origonal square.
- Only one corner of the square will have 4 open / loose edges, rotate your square so that it is a flat diamond shape with the open corner pointing downwards. We will call this the South corner, and the top corner opposite North.
- Take the corner at East and fold it half way towards the center of the serviette. Repeat with the West corner.
- PLace your cutlery in the center of the serviette ( vertically) and then fold the East side over to meet the point of the little triangle that's on the West side pointing inwards.
- This will enclose the cutlery.
- Then take the West side and bring it east, and secure the roll with a pretty bow or some gift tape. Your cutlery will be wrapped snuggly inside.

Steps:
- Lay your serviette square out flat before you in a diamond shape.
- Fold the North point of the diamond down to meet the South point of the diamond. You will now have a triangle shape that's pointing downwards.
- Take hold of the South points and start rolling them up towards the North point, stopping fractionally short of the crease at the top.
- Loop the right hand end over the left hand end, pull the right hand end though the resulting hole to form a loose knot.
- Don't pull the knot too tight, just enough to be pleasing and informal.

SERVIETTE/NAPKIN FOLDING, CELEBRATE WITH CANDLES!
My interest in serviette folding was born on a wet day at my Grandmother's house, I was a pre teen and helping her with the ironing and watched while she ironed serviettes into wonderful shapes and neatly stacked them for use. I asked her to show me how and she did. Now that I have already posted all the napkin folds I know, I decided to look on the net for some new ones to learn. This one is another very easy fold and it's called the Candle fold.. very suitable for Birthday Parties!

Steps:
- Lay your serviette out flat before you in a diamond shape.
- Take the corner at South and bring it up to meet the corner at North. You will have before you a triangle shape with the crease at the bottom.
- Take the two points at North and bend them forward South but only go one third of the way down the serviette. This will make a tiny triangle at the top that faces downwards.
- Fold the little triangle towards South again, only one third of the main serviette will be showing at the bottom now. Then fold the strip over again towards South so that the top now meets the bottom edge at South. (You should have folded the triangle downwards 3 times in all) This results in a long thin strip that has two little triangle points sticking out at each end.
- Take hold of the little triangle at the left end of the strip that you have and fold it under and backwards under itself so that the point sticks up (this will be your candle "flame").
- Now start to roll up the long strip, starting at the end where the left triangle has been folded backwards. Roll the strip up to the end, tucking the last part under and into the roll at the base of your candle.
- Voila ! a Candle serviette/ Napkin ! -- and how easy was that!

SERVIETTE/NAPKIN FOLDING, SIMPLE FAN VARIATION

I asked her to show me how and she did. Now that I have already posted all the napkin folds I know, I decided to look on the net for some new ones to learn. This one is a variation on the Simple Fan and is prepared the same way but finished differently for a new effect, like the Simple Fan, ironing the completed accordion strip gives better definition to the final serviette. Cloth serviettes can be ironed into the accordion shape in advance and stacked tightly into a shoe box ready for use. You will need one serviette ring per serviette.

Steps:
- Lay your serviette square out flat before you.
- Take the bottom right and left corners and make an accordion fold strips all the way up to the top right and left corners. If you press these with an iron the pleats will be nice and sharp. Leave unironed for a wavy casual look. (but ironed looks neater) You will now have a thin band the width of your accordion fold.
- Fold the serviette in half so that is is now half it's length and slip a serviette ring over the fold end of the accordion strip and pull gently about 1 inch ( 2.5 cm) up.
- Fan out the accordion pleats at the top to make a pleasing balance to the serviette. Present on a plate.

SERVIETTE/NAPKIN FOLDING, THE SHIRT FOLD.

I asked her to show me how and she did. Now that I have already posted all the napkin folds I know, I decided to look on the net for some new ones to learn. This one was called the Shirt Fold and is a real novelty serviette.. yes, it's intricate but not that hard, I've made a lot of step-by-step photos to guide you though. Ironing this serviette at each step will make the world of difference ! This one is so much fun and I can see it in pink or blue at kids parties with a 3 or 4 sweets down the front as buttons, or flowers for grownups, or even a paper cutout baby for a baby shower... let your imagination run riot with this one !

Steps:
- Lay your serviette square out flat before you in a square shape.
- Take the top right corner and fold the point into the center point of the square. Repeat with the other 3 corners. You should have a diamond shape in front of you.
- Take the diamond and position it so that it is now a square in front of you. Then take the right top and bottom side corners and fold them vertically in towards the center of the serviette so that you have a shape before you that has a wide rectangle on the left side and a thinner rectangle on the right.
- Now bring the top and bottom left corners in to the middle center so that you have two even vertical rectangles before you.
- Carefully turn the serviette over.
- Fold the top inch (2.5cm) (or slightly less, if you are not using a big serviette) towards you and iron it firmly. This will be your shirt collar. Then gently turn the napkin over again.
- Bring the top right corner in to the top center of the serviette, but place it about 1/2 inch (15mm) down the centre line like the centre of a collar.
- Now take the right bottom flap and fold them up and out diagonally, the upside down "V" in the centre will semi mirror the angle in the coller folds above it. Repeat with the left bottom flap. You should have before you the piece with the collar at the top and some angled triangles at the bottom that will shortly be the sleeves of the shirt.
- Take the bottom left and right corners (these are also the bottom points of the triangles that stick out) and fold them upwards until the middle of the line between them is level with the center of the collar at the top. You will now have a square shape in the middle with the collar above it and two "sleeves"at either side. Fold the centre top of the square under the flaps of the collar so that it looks like a real shirt.
- Decorate with flowers or sweets etc for buttons if desired.
