It never occurred to me that I could bake a cobbler in my slow cooker until I saw some recipes and decided to try to make my favorite fruity dessert. It took a bit of experimenting, but the tasty results are "berry" well worth it. -Martha Creveling, Orlando, Florida

1 cup all-purpose flour
1-1/2 cups sugar, divided
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons whole milk
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
Optional: Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Combine the eggs, milk and oil; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Spread the batter evenly onto the bottom of a greased 5-qt. slow cooker. , In a large saucepan, combine the berries, water, orange zest and remaining sugar; bring to a boil. Remove from the heat; immediately pour over batter. Cover and cook on high for 2 to 2-1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean., Turn cooker off. Uncover and let stand for 30 minutes before serving. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.

1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 package French vanilla cake mix (regular size)
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup chopped pecans
Vanilla ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • In a greased 5-qt. slow cooker, combine blueberries, sugar and cornstarch; stir in vanilla. In a large bowl, combine cake mix and melted butter. Crumble over blueberries. Top with pecans. 3 cups sliced peaches (3/4-inch wedges, frozen or fresh)
3 cups mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries and blackberries work best)
Zest and juice of 1/2 lemon
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup pecan halves (or roughly chopped pecans)
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons dried buttermilk (may be omitted if unavailable)
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons cold butter, cut into 1-inch cubes
Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Steps:

  • Make the filling: Grease the insert of a large slow cooker (5 to 6 quarts) liberally with the 1 tablespoon softened butter. Place the peaches and berries in the insert and sprinkle with the lemon zest, juice, granulated sugar, flour and salt and toss to coat.
  • Make the topping: In a small food processor, process the pecans, flour, oats, granulated sugar, brown sugar, dried buttermilk powder (if using), cinnamon and salt until well blended. Add the butter and pulse just until the butter is pea-sized (about 5 pulses).

3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
Pinch salt
1 teaspoon lemon zest
6 tablespoons butter, cold and cut into small pieces
3/4 cup sliced almonds
French vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the berries with the honey and cornstarch Mash together slightly with a fork just to release a little berry juice and combine with the cornstarch. Divide the berry mixture between 4 shallow (12-ounce) oven-safe dishes and reserve.
  • In the bowl of a food processor add the flour, sugar, nutmeg, salt, and lemon zest and pulse to combine. Add the butter and pulse until the butter and flour are just barely combined, about 15 seconds. Transfer the butter mixture to a bowl and toss with the sliced almonds. Evenly divide the topping between the 4 dishes by sprinkling it over the berries to almost cover completely. Transfer to the oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the top is lightly browned. Remove from the oven and serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 (8 ounce) tube buttermilk biscuit dough
⅓ cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon brown sugar
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 pints fresh blueberries, washed

Steps:

  • Lightly grease the inside of a slow cooker.
  • Mix 1/2 cup brown sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon in a small bowl. Cut biscuits into quarters. Dip each biscuit section into the melted butter, then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Place sugared biscuit pieces around the sides of the prepared slow cooker, forming a small wall of dough around the edges. Reserve any leftover butter.
  • Mix 2 tablespoons flour into the leftover butter. Add 1 tablespoon brown sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
