Sweet Orange BBQ Sauce image

From Emeril - to go with delicious five spice spare ribs. Makes a great dipping sauce for the ribs - and so easy to make!

2 (14 ounce) bottles tomato ketchup
3/4 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon molasses
1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1 tablespoon peeled and grated fresh ginger
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Process in a blender or food processor until smooth - about 15 seconds.
  • Scrape down sides and pulse two or three times more.
  • Will keep in the fridge up to two weeks.

This is a great BBQ sauce that takes just about no time at all to whip together. It's got a great flavor that melds together so nicely. This is actually better the second day, so if you have the time, make it the day before. I will tell you this, use the best chili sauce you can find. It makes all the difference. I use Heinz, and I heartily recommend that you do the same. The chili sauce makes up the bulk of the recipe, so you need to use the best.

1/2 cup chili sauce
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons orange juice, fresh if possible
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 dash hot sauce, your favorite or 1 dash Tabasco sauce

Steps:

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Mix well.
  • Use as a marinade, or brush over the seafood, chicken or pork the last 10 minutes of grilling.

This sauce takes only minutes to make, use to baste on grilled chicken, beef ribs or pork ribs. Adjust all amounts to taste.

1 cup orange marmalade (do not use sugar-free, Smucker's is the best for this!)
1 cup crushed tomatoes (or use tomato sauce)
3 tablespoons chili powder (or to taste)
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoons chopped garlic (or to taste)
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (optional or to taste add in for extra heat)

Steps:

  • In a saucepan combine all ingredients; heat over medium-high heat until the sauce comes to a boil, stirring frequentley.
  • Simmer for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Cool and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight before using to blend flavors.

1 teaspoon fresh garlic clove, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan; mix well. Heat until sauce comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Simmer 1 minute. Use immediately or cool and store in refrigerator for future use.
