The Best Christmas Cocktail: A Winter Snowflake image

One sip of this and you won't want any other warm winter cocktail ever again. It's rich, creamy and loaded with Bailey's. The perfect winter cocktail for snuggling up with on Christmas Eve while watching a Christmas film.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon white chocolate chips
1 tablespoon caramel sauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup skim milk ((you can also use non-dairy milk))
2 ounces Baileys Irish Cream
optional: whipped cream and ground cinnamon for topping

Steps:

Stir the chocolate, caramel, vanilla, milk and Baileys together in a microwave-safe mug or glass. Heat in the microwave for 60-90 seconds until piping hot.
Remove from the microwave and stir to make sure all the chocolate and caramel has thoroughly melted. Top with whipped cream and cinnamon (if using) and enjoy!

10-15ml lime juice or lime cordial, (optional)
50ml advocaat
50ml sparkling lemonade
ice, to serve
1 maraschino cherry

Steps:

Fill a glass with ice and if using, add up to 15ml of lime juice or lime cordial (or to your taste). Pour the advocaat and lemonade over the ice and stir gently until the outside of the glass feels cold.
Garnish with the maraschino cherry.

This is my mom's Christmas cookie recipe that the kids and I have made for years. Great fun to make and decorate.

Ingredients

1 cup shortening
1 ½ cups white sugar
3 eggs
3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
In a large bowl, cream the shortening with the sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well. Sift the flour and salt into the creamed mixture and stir in gradually. Chill dough for at least one hour.
Roll the chilled dough out to 1/8 inch thick and cut into desired shapes. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet for 6 to 8 minutes. Allow cookies to cool before decorating.
