Warm water
White or colored decorating sugar

Steps:

  • Dip candy sticks halfway into warm water; sprinkle with sugar. Place on a wire rack until dry.

What fun! The kids can help with this. Pep up your hot chocolate, coffee, apple cider, etc. with marshmallow swizzle sticks! You can change the colors to suit the occasion! Adapted from BH&G magazine(December 2008).

1 cup powdered sugar, sifted (confectioner's sugar)
water
marshmallows
candy cane (or peppermint candies)
chocolate sprinkles
colored hard candies
red and blue candy sprinkles
green sprinkles
flavored colored coarse sugar

Steps:

  • Stir together powdered sugar with water, a teaspoon at a time(3-4 teaspoons total), until it is the consistency of a thin glaze.
  • Dip half of marshmallow in glaze, lightly shaking to remove excess.
  • Roll glazed end of marshmallows in finely crushed candy canes(or peppermint candies, sprinkles, etc.).
  • Place on waxed paper coated side up to set.
  • Thread on skewers and serve with drink of choice.

4 (2 ounce) vanilla candy coating, squares chopped and melted
green food coloring paste
12 large candy canes
holiday candy sprinkles
colored sugar sprinkle

Steps:

  • Stir together melted chocolate coating and desired amount of paste. (We used a wooden pick dipped once in food coloring paste to tint chocolate coating.) Dip ends of candy canes 2 to 3 inches into coating; let excess drip off. Sprinkle immediately with desired toppings, and dry on a wire rack.

8-10 mint leaves
¾ oz. (22 ml) 1:1 simple syrup
2 oz. (60 ml) white rum
1 oz. (30 ml) fresh lime juice
4 dashes Angostura bitters
Mint sprig, to garnish

Steps:

  • Combine the mint leaves and simple syrup in a Collins glass and muddle gently.
  • Add rum and lime juice, fill the glass two-thirds full with crushed ice and swizzle until the glass is frosted.
  • Add the bitters and top off with more crushed ice to fill the glass. Garnish with a mint sprig.
