SUNNY'S SOUR CREAM SWIRL BROWNIES

One 18-ounce box brownie mix (plus required ingredients)
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon sugar
2 drops vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Prepare the brownie batter according to the package instructions, then transfer to a baking dish. Do not bake.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the sour cream, brown sugar, cinnamon sugar and vanilla. Drop the mix randomly around the top of the batter. Drag a skewer through the sour cream areas and batter areas to make random streaks and swirls.
  • Bake and cool according to the package instructions.

4 ciabatta rolls, sliced in half
4 tablespoons store-bought herbed garlic butter, melted
12 ounces ground chuck (80/20 mix)
4 strips crispy cooked bacon, chopped
1 teaspoon hot or smoked paprika
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Olive oil, for drizzling
4 slices Asiago cheese
1 jalapeño
3 tablespoons hot sauce, plus additional as desired
3 tablespoons maple syrup
4 sunny-side up fried eggs

Steps:

  • For the rolls: Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.
  • Scoop a bit of bread out of each roll top to create a well, discarding the scooped bread. Brush the insides, top and bottom, with the melted butter. Close the rolls and wrap individually or together in aluminum foil, then place directly on the oven rack to warm while preparing the burgers, no longer than 20 minutes.
  • For the burgers: Add the ground chuck, bacon, paprika, salt and a few grinds of pepper to a large bowl. Gently mix with your non-dominant hand, using your fingers like a pitchfork so you don't squish the meat. Mound the mixture into a ball and divide in half, then divide each half in half again to make 4 even portions.
  • Add a drizzle of olive oil to a griddle pan over high heat. Gently roll each portion of meat into a ball and place on the pan. Using the back of a plate, a flat lid or a spatula (with no holes), press each ball into a flat patty, slightly larger than the rolls. Cook the patties until they easily release from the griddle, 2 to 3 minutes. Flip, then top each with a slice of cheese and continue to cook until the patties are cooked through and the cheese is melted, another 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, add the jalapeño to the griddle and char on all sides, then remove and finely chop, removing the seeds if you would like less heat.
  • Build the burgers: Whisk the hot sauce and maple syrup together in a small bowl. Remove the rolls from the oven and unwrap. Put a patty on each roll, then drizzle each with the maple hot sauce. Top each with some jalapeño followed by a fried egg and more hot sauce as desired.

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8x10-inch baking pan.
  • Mix oats, brown sugar, flax seed meal, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt together in a bowl. Mix banana, rice milk, egg, and vanilla extract together in a separate bowl. Pour banana mixture into flour mixture; stir to combine. Pour batter into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake brownies in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 20 minutes. Cover pan with a towel to hold in moisture and cool brownies for at least 5 minutes before serving.

¾ cup butter
2 cups white sugar
¾ cup cocoa powder
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
4 eggs, lightly beaten
½ cup all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch oven-proof skillet.
  • Place butter in a microwave-safe bowl; heat in microwave until melted, about 30 seconds. Add sugar and cocoa powder to butter and stir. Heat butter-cocoa mixture in microwave until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth, about 30 seconds.
  • Mix vanilla extract into butter-cocoa mixture. Stir eggs into butter-cocoa mixture; add flour and stir until batter is well mixed. Pour batter into the prepared skillet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of the brownies comes out clean, 40 to 50 minutes.

From my cabin to yours... The right combination of cakeyness and gooeyness! So easy to make, my 9 year old whips these up for school bake sales.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2/3 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon salt
4 eggs, unbeaten
1 cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 deg F.
  • Place all the ingredients into a large bowl. Optional: add in 1 c chopped nuts.
  • Mix at medium speed for 3 minutes.
  • Spread into a 9x13" pan.
  • Place into the oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
  • While baking, share the batter bowl with the kids (this is the best part!).
  • Brownies will come out of the pan easier when they have cooled. I can't usually wait that long though!
  • Cut into 32 small squares (or 12 big ones and serve with ice cream).
