Sweet Potato Dog Waffles Recipes

SUPER SIMPLE SWEET POTATO DOG TREATS

Steps:

• Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prick sweet potato several times with a fork.
• Heat sweet potato in a microwave on high until tender, about 6 minutes. Cut potato in half and scoop flesh out of the skin into a bowl; discard skin. Mash potato with a fork or potato masher and transfer about 1 cup to a large bowl. Save any remaining sweet potato for another use.
• Mix whole wheat flour, applesauce, and eggs in the large bowl with the sweet potato until a dough forms. Turn dough out on a well-floured surface and roll dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut out shapes using a cookie cutter or cut dough into strips with a pizza cutter. Arrange cookies on an ungreased baking sheet.
• Bake until crisp, 35 to 45 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

SWEET POTATO DOG WAFFLES

Steps:

• In a medium bowl, mash half of a baked sweet potato and a small, ripe banana together with a fork.
• In a small bowl, beat an egg with a fork. Then, add it to the sweet potato and banana mixture. Blend well with a spoon.
• Melt the coconut oil in the microwave and add this to the sweet potato, banana, egg mixture. Blend well with a spoon.
• Add the oat flour and cinnamon to the sweet potato, banana, egg, coconut mixture. Blend with a spoon until well combined. The consistency will be a cake-like batter.
• Heat a waffle iron according to your brand's instructions. I used a Dash mini waffle iron.
• When the waffle iron is heated, spray coconut oil to grease the metal plates.
• Scoop about a tablespoon of batter three to four different times, placing separately on the metal plates of the waffle iron. Repeat this process until you run out of batter.
• Cook until golden brown. (The light on my waffle maker turns on when the lid is closed and turns off when the waffles are ready.)
• Remove the waffles from the heat and allow to cool thoroughly.
• Store in a zip-lock baggie in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can also freeze for up to two to three weeks.

SWEET POTATO WAFFLES

Steps:

• Put cubed sweet potatoes in a steamer basket. Place the basket in a large pot of simmering water that is no closer than 2 inches from the bottom of steamer. Allow potatoes to steam for 20 minutes of until fork tender. Mash cooked potatoes and set aside.
• In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt and set aside.
• In another bowl combine the sweet potatoes, milk, brown sugar, butter, and grated orange rind. Stir the sweet potato mixture into the flour mixture and thoroughly combine. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually fold egg whites into batter 1/3 at a time. The batter will be thick. Using a No. 20 disher (scoop), place 2 scoops of batter onto a preheated, oiled waffle iron, and cook until lightly browned, about 5 to 6 minutes.

Steps:

• In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cardamom and salt. In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks, sour cream, sweet potatoes, milk and butter; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in pecans., In a small bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into batter. Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions until golden brown. Serve with syrup.

SWEET POTATO WAFFLES

Steps:

• Pierce a sweet potato with a fork and place in a microwave-safe bowl; heat in microwave until tender, 5 to 10 minutes. Cool and measure out 3/4 cup sweet potato, reserving the rest for another use.
• Preheat a waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
• Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt together in a large bowl.
• Mix sweet potato, eggs, melted butter, brown sugar, lime juice, vanilla extract, and grated lime zest together in a bowl. Pour sweet potato mixture into the flour mixture; stir until batter is smooth.
• Spoon batter into the waffle iron and cook according to manufacturer's instructions until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter.
