THE BEST AMISH MEATLOAF RECIPE
After traveling in eastern Ohio and eating many different "Amish-style" meatloaves, I finally asked for this wonderful meatloaf recipe. This one is not as sweet as the typical Amish recipe and has some garlic flavoring in it. We love it!!

Steps:
- Mix first 7 ingredients throughly together and pack into a loaf pan.
- Next put the strips of bacon on top and bake for an hour at 350F degrees.
- While waiting, mix the sauce ingredients together.
- After the hour is up, pour and smooth the sauce onto the meatloaf and cook another 15 to 20 minutes. I have sometimes added 1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt instead of the salt to the sauce mixture and that is also delicious!

My husband normally HATES meatloaf, but because of the sauce, he loves this one. I usually have left-over sauce after baking. I just sit it to the side for a topping.

- Press into loaf pan and top with bacon.

AMISH MEATLOAF RECIPE WITH OATS
Amish meatloaf is wonderful comfort food. This is an old-fashioned meatloaf recipe with oats and tomato juice. It is a perfect dish for Sunday dinner.

- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Mix together oats, juice, eggs, and seasonings.
- Add burger and mix until combined. Do not overmix.
- Place the meat mixture into a baking pan and shape it into a loaf. Spoon half of the glaze over the top.
- Cover and bake for one hour.
- Pour the remaining glaze over the top and bake, uncovered, for an additional 10 - 15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 10 - 15 minutes before cutting it into slices, to keep it from crumbling.
- Cover and refrigerate leftovers, and use within 3 days. Or wrap it airtight and freeze up to 3 months.

EASY AMISH MEATLOAF
Many Amish meatloaf recipes originated in Ohio and in neighboring regions. The key ingredient in any Amish meatloaf is two strips of real bacon. It's best to make the actual meatloaf and the sauce separately, and then combine them when each component is finished. Some Amish meatloaf recipes tend to be sweet, but, if you don't like the sweetness, add more garlic instead to your version.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then combine the ground beef, Ritz crackers, onion, eggs, garlic salt, ketchup and pepper. Now pack the mixture into a meatloaf pan. Lay the two strips of bacon on top of the pan, and bake it for about an hour. Then make the sauce. In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, salt, dry mustard, dark brown sugar and pepper. Finally, when the meatloaf has cooked for about an hour, take it out and pour the sauce on top of it. Bake for another 15 to 20 minutes. Then take it out, and let sit for about five minutes before slicing and serving. Swiss Amish Meatloaf: Build off the recipe above, and add in ½ cup of evaporated milk, ½ teaspoon of dried sage and ½ cup of shredded Swiss cheese. Instead of cooking meatloaf in a regular pan, you can also use an oval-shaped loaf pan.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, mix together ground beef, crushed crackers, onion, eggs, 3/4 cup ketchup, and 1/4 cup brown sugar until well blended. Press into a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Lay the two slices of bacon over the top.
- Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until cooked through. While the loaf bakes, mix together the remaining 1 cup ketchup, vinegar, salt, mustard and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Spread over the top of the meat loaf for the last 15 minutes of baking.
