Categories     Main Course

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound ground beef
2 cups milk, (2% or higher)
4 Tablespoons salted butter
4 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In a medium sauce pan over medium high heat, brown the ground beef. Season with a little salt and pepper. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  • Melt butter in the same sauce pan. Add flour and whisk until butter/flour mixture is bubbly.
  • Add milk, salt, and pepper. Whisk continuously until thick and bubbly.
  • Add cooked ground beef back in and stir.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as needed (I usually like a bit more pepper). If necessary, add a little more milk until it reaches your desired consistency.

1 (12 ounce) package maple flavored sausage
1 pound extra-lean ground beef

Gradually mix in flour, while stirring continuously, until the mixture is thick and pasty. You may not need all of the flour. Slowly whisk in the milk using a fork so that lumps do not form. Stir in bouillon. Continue cooking and stirring constantly until the mixture reaches your desired consistency. The longer it cooks, the thicker it will get.
