Easy BBQ chicken image

Juicy BBQ chicken breasts basted with a sweet, sticky homemade BBQ sauce is a delicious and easy chicken recipe perfect for dinner.

¾ cup tomato ketchup
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp Cider / Balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp smoked paprika
¼ tsp garlic powder
4 chicken breasts (skinless, boneless )
1 tsp salt
1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp garlic powder

Steps:

  • Combine the BBQ sauce ingredients in a small saucepan and set over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
  • Combine the seasonings for the chicken then dust the chicken on both sides with the spice mixture, making sure the chicken is completely covered.
  • Cook the chicken on a hot grill (or a griddle pan on the stove), basting with the BBQ sauce continuously until the chicken is sticky, glossy and cooked through. Approximately 5-6 minutes per side.
  • Remove the chicken from the heat and allow to rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

3 bone-in chicken breast halves (about 1-1/2 pounds)
1 small onion, sliced
1 bottle (12 ounces) chili sauce
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Brown chicken on all sides in a skillet coated with cooking spray. Transfer to a greased 11x7-in. baking dish; top with onion. Combine chili sauce, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce and oregano; pour over chicken. Sprinkle with pepper. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 45 minutes or until meat juices run clear.

Steps:

  • Combine first 7 ingredients in a small saucepan; bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes.
  • Set aside 1/2 cup sauce; keep warm.
  • Coat grill rack with cooking spray; place on grill over medium-hot coals (350 to 400 degrees).
  • Place chicken, bone side up, on rack; grill, covered, 8 minutes on each side or until done, turning once and basting with remaining barbecue sauce.
  • Serve with reserved 1/2 cup barbecue sauce.

0.5 cup(s) Kosher salt
2 pound(s) Uncooked boneless skinless chicken breast(s) or four 10 oz bone-in skinless breasts cut in half the short way to yield 8 pieces*
0.5 cup(s) Barbecue sauce
8 cup(s) Water warm

Steps:

  • Whisk the salt into the warm water in a very large bowl until salt dissolves. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
  • Submerge chicken in cooled brine. Refrigerate 1 hour.
  • Off heat, coat grill with cooking spray. Prepare gas grill for medium-high, indirect cooking (barbecuing) or build a well-ashed, medium-high-heat charcoal bed in a charcoal grill and rake the coals to the sides of the cooking grate.
  • Remove chicken from salt brine; rinse them and pat dry. Place chicken bone-side down on grill grate to the side of any heat source, not directly over the heat. Cover grill and barbecue 15 minutes.
  • Brush chicken breasts with barbecue sauce, cover grill and continue cooking until an instant-read meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of one breast registers 165°F, about 15 minutes more (and less for boneless chicken). Transfer chicken to a cutting board and let stand for 5 minutes to reincorporate any juices before serving.
  • Yields about 3 ounces chicken per serving.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
