1 cup butter
2 1/2 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1 tablespoon clove
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup sour milk

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350F.
Cream butter and sugar.
Beat eggs well and add.
Sift flour and spices together.
Stir baking soda with 1/3 of the milk.
Mix with egg/sugar mixture.
Add rest of milk, alternating with flour mixture.
Pour into a greased 10 inch tube pan.
Bake 45-55 mins
HINT: If you dont have sour milk, add a tablespoon of vinegar to the milk to sour it.

2 c chopped dates
1 c chopped walnuts
1 c butter, softened
2 c packed dark brown sugar
3 eggs
2 c beer
powdered sugar optional
rum butter spread optional

Steps:

Cook time: 1 Hr 15 Min Prep time: 15 Min Serves: 18 slices 1. Mix first 4 items in a bowl, set aside. Then Combine dates and nuts,stir in small amount of flour mixture to coat,set aside. In a large bowl cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add flour mixture alternately with beer, blending well. Stir in dates and nuts. Pour into a well-greased and floured 12 cup fluted tube pan. Bake in a pre-heated 350 oven. 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool in the pan 10 minutes. then turn out on a rack to cool completely. Wrap in foil, and let stand 24 hours before serving. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. 2. Optional: Rum butter spread. Whip 1/2 cup softened butter with 2 Tablespoons rum till light and fluffy. Rum extract can be used.

Melt butter in a saucepan.
Sprinkle in flour.
Add milk.
Stir until thickened.
Add grated cheese.
Pour mixture over beaten egg yolks.
Fold in beaten egg whites.
Pour into buttered ramekins.
Run thumb around lip of ramekins.
Bake for exactly 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
