Learn how to make the crispiest chicken breasts ever in the air fryer. It's so easy to do with Panko breadcrumbs, and you don't need any oil.

1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast
1 cup flour
1 tsp. salt, divided
1 tsp. pepper, divided
1 egg, whisked
1 cup Panko breadcrumbs

Steps:

  • Remove the chicken breasts from the packaging and pound them into an even thickness. If your air fryer has a metal rack, set it in the tray. Cooking the chicken on the rack promotes crispy chicken.
  • Whisk together flour, 1/2 teaspoon of the salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of the pepper. Pour it out onto a plate.
  • Add the egg to a bowl.
  • Whisk the Panko breadcrumbs together with the remaining salt and pepper. Pour that out onto an additional plate.
  • Dip the chicken breasts into the flour mixture, then the egg, and then the Panko mixture until all of the pieces are coated.
  • Lay the chicken on the rack in your air fryer if you're using one.
  • Slide the tray into the air fryer, and turn the dial to 350°F. Set the timer for 22 minutes.
  • The chicken should have an internal temperature of 165°F before serving and it will be golden brown and delicious.

The recipes below are super healthy because you are not deep frying in lots of fat. It takes very little oil to coat the chicken so that a nice golden brown outer layer forms.

2 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
1 TBS extra virgin olive oil
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp dried oregano

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano. Brush both sides of chicken breasts with oil mixture and set aside.
  • Set the air fryer to 350°F and preheat for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer on the grill plate or basket. Cook for 8 minutes. Turn the chicken over and continue to cook for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Remove the chicken to a clean cutting board and allow to rest for at least 3 minutes. Slice the breasts into 1/2 inch thick portions. Serve with your favorite sides. Mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach are good pairings.

This Crispy Air-Fryer Chicken Breast is such an easy meal you can have ready in 15 minutes. Tender, protein-rich chicken breast coated in an incredibly flavorful parmesan breadcrumb mixture, then air-fried to crispy, juicy perfection with no oil at all. A healthy chicken recipe you must try!

2 skinless boneless chicken breasts (about 4-5 ounces each)
2 cups seasoned parmesan breadcrumbs - or make your own, see notes below
2 large eggs
Salt and pepper
Shredded parmesan cheese - for topping
Lemon
Parsely
Red pepper flakes
Hot sauce

Steps:

  • Prep the chicken. Dry the chicken by patting it dry with a clean paper towel then slice it in half lengthwise. This is easy to do with a sharp kitchen knife.
  • Make the coating mixture. Crack the eggs into a medium shallow bowl, sprinkle with salt and pepper and lightly whisk until the yolks are broken down and the mixture is nice and bright yellow. Pour the breadcrumbs into a separate shallow bowl and add more flavor by mixing in 1/4 cup of shredded parmesan cheese and some dried parsley, which is optional but will add more flavor to the chicken. You can also buy parmesan and herb breadcrumbs that are already seasoned.
  • Coat the chicken breast. Dredge each piece of chicken in the egg mixture then in the breadcrumbs mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs into the chicken to get it all nice and coated. Place the breaded chicken breasts onto a clean plate.
  • Preheat the air-fryer and cook. Preheat the air-fryer to 390 degrees F. Once it is ready, spray the basket with olive oil spray. Generously spray each piece of chicken as well. Place two pieces of chicken at a time (or however many you can fit in your air fryer in a single layer.) into the air-fryer basket, close and cook for 11 minutes, turning the chicken over halfway through the cooking time. Continue until all of the chicken is cooked. Air-fryers may vary. See notes section for what brand I used for this recipe
  • Slice and serve. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes after cooking then sprinkle it with salt and pepper and a squeeze of lemon for more flavor. Slice it on a bias and serve with your favorite salad or healthy side dish.

4 chicken breasts
½ tbsp rapeseed oil
1 tsp salt
1 ½ tsp garlic granules
1 tsp smoked sweet paprika
2 tsp mixed herbs
½ tsp pepper
steamed rice and greens such as broccoli or green beans or a green salad, to serve (optional)

Steps:

  • Coat the chicken in the oil and set aside. In a bowl, combine the salt, garlic, paprika and mixed herbs with a good grinding of black pepper, then scatter onto a plate.
  • Roll each oiled chicken breast in the seasoning and put in your air fryer basket. Cook at 180C for 18-20 mins, turning after 10 mins. To check it is cooked, pierce the chicken with a knife at the thickest part to see if the juices run clear. Or insert a temperature thermometer and it should read 70C. Serve with rice and greens or a salad.
