2 bone-in chicken breasts (I used split chicken breasts)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
pinch of red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon oil

Steps:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 370 degrees.
  • Remove the chicken from its packaging and set it aside.
  • Mix the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and red pepper flakes in a bowl.
  • Baste the oil on both sides of the chicken and coat them with the brown sugar mixture.
  • Place the split chicken breasts in the air fryer and cook for about 25 to 30 minutes, flipping the chicken at about 10 minutes left. Cook until the thickest part reaches 165 degrees F. Thicker or larger chicken breasts may take a few minutes longer.
  • Remove the chicken from the air fryer and enjoy!

How To Make Juicy Air Fryer Chicken Breasts image

This foolproof recipe for making perfectly juicy boneless chicken breast in the air fryer will give you golden, flavorful chicken.

kosher salt* (see notes)
4 boneless chicken breasts (about 6 ounces each)
olive oil spray
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/8 cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Pound the thicker end of the chicken to make both sides leveled out so they cook evenly.
  • Fill a large bowl with 6 cups of lukewarm water and add 1/4 cup Diamond Crystal kosher salt, stir to dissolve.
  • Add the chicken breasts to the water and let them sit, refrigerated 1 to 1 1/2 hours to brine. Remove from water, pat dry with paper towels and discard the water.
  • In a small bowl combine 3/4 teaspoon salt, with the remaining spices. Spritz the chicken with oil and rub all over, then rub the spice mix over the chicken.
  • Add the chicken to the air fryer basket and air fry in batches 380F 5 minutes on each side, 10 minutes total until browned on the outside and cooked through on the inside. See notes below for larger breasts.

Nonstick cooking spray, for the basket
1 frozen boneless skinless chicken breast (about 6 ounces)
1 teaspoon olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat a 3.5-quart air fryer air fryer to 380 degrees F and spray the basket with nonstick spray.
  • Drizzle the chicken breast with the olive oil. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper on both sides. Put the chicken in the air fryer basket and cook at 360 degrees F until an instant-read thermometer inserted in the center reads 165 degrees F, 18 to 20 minutes.

This is how I make basic Air Fryer chicken breast. These are great with a couple simple sides for a quick dinner, and they also work great for meal prep.

cooking spray ((or rub on oil of choice - use about 1/4 Tablespoon per chicken breast))
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (raw, mine were about 7.5 to 8 ounces each)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder ((about 1/8 tsp per chicken breast))
1/2 teaspoon salt ((1/8 tsp per chicken breast))
1/8 teaspoon black pepper ((a dash per chicken breast))
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano ((around 1/8 tsp per breast, and you can sub parsley, basil, thyme, etc.))

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder and oregano together.
  • Spray the chicken breasts on the presentation side (smooth side) with cooking spray of choice. I use avocado oil spray.
  • Sprinkle some of the seasoning blend on each chicken breast, and use hands to pat and help the seasoning stick.
  • Place the chicken breast, seasoned side down, in the air fryer.
  • Spray the bare side, which is now facing up, and sprinkle on the remaining seasoning.
  • Cook for 10 minutes on 360 degrees.
  • Flip over (tongs are extremely helpful), and cook until internal temperature reaches at least 165, about another 8 to 12 minutes on 360 depending on the size of your chicken breasts. (Mine were about 7.75 ounces each, and 10 minutes on the 2nd side was perfect.????????That's 20 minutes total. See cook time notes section below.)
  • Remove the basket from the air fryer, and allow the chicken to rest for about 5 minutes before cutting into it. This lets the juices redistribute and helps the chicken be juicier.

salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat an air fryer to 360 degrees F (182 degrees C).
  • Brush both sides of the chicken breast with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder on one side. Set chicken breast, seasoned side down, into the air fryer basket and sprinkle the other side with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Air-fry for 9 minutes, flip, and cook until chicken breast is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, 9 more minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  • Transfer chicken breast onto a plate and loosely cover with foil. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
