AIR FRYER APPLE HAND PIES
These easy Air Fryer Apple Hand Pies have a gooey apple pie filling and flaky crust. Portable, delicious, no slicing, and little mess!

Steps:
- Remove pie crusts from packaging and allow to come to room temperature, per package instructions.
- Cut the pie crusts into 5-inch circles using a cookie cutter.
- Place two slices of apples from the apple pie filling onto the pie crusts on the bottom half of the crust. With a little water on the tip of your finger, moisten the outside edges of the pie crust. Fold dough over filling to form half-moons; pinch the edges of the crust together, then crimp edges with a fork to seal.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg with a splash of water. Brush the pies with the egg wash all over the tops.
- Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of the coarse sugar over each pie.
- Make three slits in the crust on the top of the pies.
- Preheat the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 5 minutes. Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
- Place 2 pies in the basket at a time and air fry for about 10 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and filling is bubbling. Carefully remove and transfer to a wire rack to cool. Repeat with remaining pies. (If your air fryer basket is large, you can cook more than 2 at a time as long as they are not touching at all.)
- Serve with caramel sauce for dipping!

- Preheat air fryer to 350°F for 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, roll out pie crusts to 13-14 inch circles. Use a 3½ to 4-inch round biscuit cutter to cut 6 to 7 rounds out of each one (see note). Re-roll scraps to to make 1-2 more rounds.
- Top half of the rounds with a tablespoon of pie filling, if using a pie filling with big pieces such as apple or peach, you'll want to chop it up a bit first.
- Lightly moisten the edges of the filled pie crusts with water (use your fingertip dipped in water). Place the remaining pie rounds on top of the filled ones and use a fork to press the edges together to seal.
- In a small bowl, beat together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the tops of the pies with egg wash; sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Cook pies for 6 to 7 minutes until the tops are a golden brown.

- Combine apples, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a non-stick skillet. Cook over medium heat until apples have softened, about 5 minutes.
- Dissolve cornstarch in cold water. Stir into apple mixture and cook until sauce thickens, about 1 minute. Remove apple pie filling from heat and set aside to cool while you prepare the crust.
- Unroll pie crust on a lightly floured surface and roll out slightly to smooth the surface of the dough. Cut the dough into rectangles small enough so that 2 can fit in your air fryer at one time. Repeat with remaining crust until you have 8 equal rectangles, re-rolling some of the scraps of dough if needed.
- Wet the outer edges of 4 rectangles with water and place some apple filling in the center about 1/2-inch from the edges. Roll out the remaining 4 rectangles so that they are slightly larger than the filled ones. Place these rectangles on top of the filling; crimp the edges with a fork to seal. Cut 4 small slits in the tops of the pies.
- Spray the basket of an air fryer with cooking spray. Brush the tops of 2 pies with grapeseed oil and transfer pies to the air fryer basket using a spatula.
- Insert basket and set the temperature to 385 degrees F (195 degrees C). Bake until golden brown, about 8 minutes. Remove pies from the basket and repeat with the remaining 2 pies.
- Mix together powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl. Brush glaze on warm pies and allow to dry. Serve pies warm or at room temperature.

- To make filling, in a large sauté pan, melt butter. Add apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Sauté over medium heat until apples are soft, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and cool.

- Unroll each room temperature pie crust and using a 4.5 inch biscuit/cookie cutter cut out 4 holes in each pie crust.
- Moisten the outside edge of each circle with water.

- In a medium sized saucepan melt the butter over medium high heat. Add in the apples, cinnamon and brown sugar and sauté until tender. In a small bowl mix the cornstarch and water and add it to the sauce pan. Continue to cook until it starts to thicken. Remove from heat.
