AIR FRYER ESSENTIALS: SPICY CAJUN SHRIMP

Air Fryer Essentials: Spicy Cajun Shrimp image

Threw this together last night and was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful they were. The two changes I made were to use butter, in place of oil, and the addition of the breadcrumbs. Plus, the dipping sauce, adds just the right amount of heat, and sweet. Easy/Peasy to make... great to eat. So, you ready... Let's get into...

PLAN/PURCHASE
DIPPING SAUCE
1/4 c mayonnaise
1 Tbsp siracha sauce
1 Tbsp fresh clover honey
SHRIMP
6 - 8 large shrimp, peeled, deveined, tails on
2 Tbsp sweet butter, unsalted, melted
1 tsp cajun spice, i prefer tony chachere's
OPTIONAL ITEMS
1 tsp toasted breadcrumbs, medium ground

Steps:

  • 1. PREP/PREPARE
  • 2. For this recipe, you will need an air fryer, or you could cook them in a convection oven.
  • 3. Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • 4. Combine the ingredients for the dipping sauce, and reserve.
  • 5. Peel the shrimp, remove the veins, but leave the tails on.
  • 6. Add the melted butter, and Cajun spice to a bowl (plus the breadcrumbs, if using) toss in the shrimp, and let sit for about 5 minutes.
  • 7. Chef's Note: The breadcrumbs add just a bit of crunch to the shrimp. If you have some, I strongly recommend that you use them.
  • 8. Add in a single layer to the basket of your air fryer.
  • 9. Set the temperature to 400f (205c) and cook for 12 minutes.
  • 10. PLATE/PRESENT
  • 11. Serve while still hot with the dipping sauce. Enjoy
  • 12. Keep the faith, and keep cooking.

25 BEST CAJUN APPETIZERS THAT’LL SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!

From cookingchew.com
  • Classic Gumbo. This Gumbo recipe is what you’ll want to make when you’re craving something warm and comforting and satisfying to eat. It’s got hearty chicken and sausage and seafood in a richly-flavored broth and roux that has been seasoned with Creole spices, paprika, and gumbo file.
  • Cajun Spiced Deviled Eggs. This Cajun Spiced Deviled Eggs recipe adds a hint of Cajun spice to the yolks, transforming the flavor entirely. It has that right amount of spice to make them extra delicious, but just enough so you can enjoy a full dozen in one sitting.
  • Boudin Balls. The flavor in these Boudin Balls is just incredible—a little bit smoky, a little bit spicy, and 100% savory. They’re just the right size for popping a few in your mouth while you watch the game (or while you’re watching a movie on the couch).
  • Cajun-Style Pecans. Some nuts are just fine raw, but pecans are different. They’re the best when it comes to roasting, especially if you want a Southern-style treat that screams comfort food.
  • Pan-Fried Cajun Chickpeas. It’s hard to beat a good, old-fashioned garbanzo bean. But sometimes, you want something a little out of the extraordinary.
