AUNT EM'S NUT BREAD

This Nut Bread is a treat I make for my family at Christmas and Easter and has been in our family for at least 75 yrs. It belonged to an Aunt that passed away over 50 yrs. ago. It is easy to prepare and not too sweet so it is great any time of the year.

Ingredients

aunt em's nut bread
2 eggs, well beaten
1 cup sugar
2 cups sifted flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

Beat eggs & gradually add sugar. Beat till light & fluffy.
Sift flour and baking powder and salt into a large bowl.
Mix milk and water to egg mixture in a smaller bowl.
Then slowly add the milk,water and egg mixture to the flour stirring well.
Stir in butter and nuts.
Pour into greased loaf baking pans. Bake in moderate oven at 350% for 55 minute.
Cool overnight. May be frozen if desired.
Great if made a few weeks in advance to allow flavours to mellow.
Delicious spread with sweet butter.

Ingredients

1 cup margarine, softened
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
In a large bowl, cream together the margarine, peanut butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Combine the flour and baking soda; stir into the peanut butter mixture. Mix in chocolate chips. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly browned at the edges. Allow cookies to cool on the cookie sheets for a minute before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
