DOROTHY LYNCH® STYLE SALAD DRESSING

Dorothy Lynch® Style Salad Dressing image

This is my husband's favorite dressing, and it is the best dressing to use in taco salad. The original dressing was made in St. Paul, Nebraska and is sold in the midwest but is becoming more expensive. This recipe is very similar to the store version and uses products I regularly have in my pantry. We love it.

RUSSIAN DRESSING

Russian Dressing image

Russian dressing and Thousand Island are similar in that they are both creamy and salmon in color. However, Russian salad dressing is spicier with the addition of ingredients like horseradish and pepper sauce, while pickle relish gives Thousand Island a sweeter flavor. -Francine Lizotte, Surrey, British Columbia

AUNT DOROTHY'S MARINATED CARROT SALAD

Aunt Dorothy's Marinated Carrot Salad image

This has been a family favorite for years. The key to this recipe is not overcooking the carrots and allowing the entire salad to marinate for at least 12 hours. For a spectacular presentation when serving, garnish the top with rings of each color of bell pepper and rings of onion. Serve alone or over a bed of lettuce.

Provided by Scott

Categories     Salad     Vegetable Salad Recipes     Carrot Salad Recipes

Time P1DT35m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 pounds carrots, peeled and sliced into rounds
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 cup white sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
¾ cup white vinegar
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 red bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 yellow bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 large onion, chopped

Steps:

  • Place the carrots in a large pot and fill with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil and cook until carrots are tender. Do not over cook, the carrots should be firm but easy to bite into. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking.
  • In the container of a food processor or blender, combine the tomato soup, sugar, oil, vinegar, cayenne pepper, salt and mustard powder. Blend for about 3 minutes or until creamy.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the carrots, green, red and yellow bell peppers and onion. Toss with the dressing, cover and refrigerate overnight. The longer this salad is allowed to sit, the better it is.

AUNT DOROTHY'S DRESSING

Aunt Dorothy's Dressing image

This is my great aunt Dorothy's recipe card but the recipe goes further back in my family then that, it's been a tradition to make on thanksgiving and christmas every year, it's just not a gathering without it.

Provided by celestial_star03

Categories     Very Low Carbs

Time 1h20m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1.5 (6 ounce) packages cornbread
1.5 (12 ounce) cans biscuits
4 eggs
2 tablespoons sage
2 1/2 large onions, chopped
1/2 cup melted butter
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 lb cooked chicken breast

Steps:

  • Fix the cornbread and biscuits as the package directs (I make 2 full pans and keep the extra halves to pass around).
  • In a large baking pot tear up the cornbread and biscuits and place in the bottom,.
  • Add in the chicken, sage, onion, and eggs.
  • Mix it together very well.
  • Add in the chicken broth slowly mixing as you can use more but do not add so much as to make it soggy.
  • bake at 325 for 45 minutes to an hour or until the top is golden brown and some of the juices have been absorbed.
