2 tbsp natural almond butter
1 tbsp olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp chili powder
0.25 cup cilantro
2 tbsp lime juice
0 salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Cook bacon until crispy.
  • Let bacon cool, and then chop it up.
  • Use a food processor to blend black beans, almond butter, olive oil, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper, cilantro, and lime.
  • Place mix into a bowl, and top with bacon.

6 strip bacon (omit for vegetarian)
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup water (or chicken broth)
1 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Cook the bacon in an oven safe skillet and set aside to cool before crumbling, reserving 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan.
  • Add the onions and cook in the reserved bacon grease over medium heat, until tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Add garlic, chipotle chili powder, and cumin, and cook until fragrant, about a minute.
  • Add the beans and water and bring to a boil before mashing with a masher or pureeing in a food processor.
  • Return to the pan, add the monterey jack cheese and cook until it has melted into the bean dip.
  • Mix in the bacon, sprinkle on the cheddar cheese, and transfer to the oven to broil until the cheese has melted, about 1-2 minutes.

2 14 oz Cans Black beans
2 slice bacon (or 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil)
2 teaspoon Cumin
1 small Onion
1 clove garlic
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Dried Oregano
2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (Optional)
Cheddar Cheese
Low Fat Sour Cream
Cilantro
Salsa
Tortilla Chips

Steps:

  • Chop bacon and place in fry pan Or heat Olive Oil
  • Chop onion add to fry pan after bacon has cooked a little
  • Add Salt, Cumin, Garlic to onions
  • When (Bacon is cooked and) Onions are soft add the black beans to the pan
  • While beans are cooking mash them with a potato masher or use a metal spatula like I had to use. (My monkey son broke the potato masher!! rrrrrr). As you smash the beans the mixture will thicken.
  • The Bean Dip is ready to serve. Just put in a bowl, sprinkle with green onions and cilantro

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan
3 slices bacon, chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 jalapeno, seeded and chopped
2 cans black beans, drained
Salt and pepper
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce
2 to 3 tablespoons chopped cilantro leaves or scallions, optional garnish
Sour cream, optional garnish

Steps:

  • Heat a medium skillet over medium high heat. Add extra-virgin olive oil and bacon. Render fat 2 minutes then add onion and garlic, cook 5 minutes. Add 1 can of beans to the pan and season them with salt, pepper and cumin then smash them with a potato masher, combining them with bacon and onions. When they are combined, add remaining can of beans and combine with smashed beans. Add hot sauce to your taste and serve. Chopped cilantro or scallions and sour cream are optional garnishes to this smash.

  • Blend beans in a blender until creamy.

1 (8 ounce) package dry black beans
2 ½ quarts water
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1 large onion, chopped
1 tomato, cubed
1 carrot, cubed
½ pound bacon strips, diced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Place beans in a pressure cooker with enough water to cover, and soak 12 hours, or overnight.
  • Add 2 1/2 quarts water to the beans, or enough to fill pressure cooker about 2/3 full. Cover, and cook 30 minutes at 10 pounds pressure. Remove from heat, and set aside.
  • Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat, and saute the garlic and onion until tender. Stir in the tomato and carrot. Cook about 5 minutes, and mix in the bacon. Cook and stir until bacon is crisp and evenly browned.
  • Mix the vegetable and bacon mixture into the pressure cooker with the black beans. Cover, and continue cooking approximately 10 minutes at 10 pounds pressure. Garnish with parsley, and season with salt and pepper to serve.
