1/4 cup cheddar cheese (grated)
1/4 cup prepared BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon canola oil
4 whole wheat burger buns
Coleslaw
Pickled red onions
Extra cheddar cheese
Extra BBQ sauce

Steps:

  • Mix together burger ingredients in a medium bowl until evenly combined. Do not overmix.
  • Shape burger mixture into 4 equal sized patties.
  • Heat canola oil over medium heat. in a large skillet Add the patties and cook 6-7 minutes, then flip and cook an additional 5-6 minutes, until cooked through.
  • Serve on burger buns with desired toppings.

1 large onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley
1 pound ground lean chicken
1/4 cup plain yogurt
3 tablespoons pomegranate molasses, for brushing (see Cook's Note)
4 whole wheat buns, toasted
1 tomato, thinly sliced
1 English cucumber, thinly sliced
1 small red onion, sliced

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, add the onion, cinnamon, coriander, pepper flakes, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt and season with pepper. Cook until onions are tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and parsley and cook until garlic is fragrant, about 1 more minute. Transfer to a large bowl and let cool slightly. Stir in the chicken and yogurt until the onion are evenly mixed. Season with 1 teaspoon kosher salt and some pepper. Shape into 4 1/2-inch thick patties.
  • Cook in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes on each side, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the sides of the burgers registers between 165 and 170 degrees F. Brush burgers with the pomegranate molasses and set aside to rest for 5 minutes. Serve on toasted buns with fixings.

1 small red onion, 1/2 finely chopped, 1/2 thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, eyeball it
1 tablespoon hot sauce, eyeball it
1 1/4 pounds ground chicken
1 tablespoons grill seasoning (recommended: McCormick brand) a palm full
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
2 tablespoons honey, eyeball it
1 lemon, juiced
3 rounded tablespoons sweet pickle relish
2 cups shredded cabbage mix
Salt and pepper
4 cornmeal Kaiser rolls, split

Steps:

  • In a small skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add chopped onions, garlic and tomato paste and sweat them for 5 minutes to soften and sweeten. Sprinkle in sugar and remove from heat. Cool in a bowl, 5 minutes. Add tomato paste mixture, Worcestershire, hot sauce to bowl and combine. Add chicken to the bowl then grill seasoning and combine the burgers well to evenly distribute the flavors and form 4 patties. Wash up.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, a turn of the pan, in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties 6 minutes on each side.
  • Combine the honey, lemon juice, and remaining extra-virgin olive oil in a bowl. Add relish, cabbage mix and sliced onions and season with salt and pepper. Toss the slaw to coat and reserve.
  • Serve burgers on bun bottoms topped with slaw and bun tops.

1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup bread crumbs (or crushed cornflakes)
4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
4 hamburger buns
reduced-fat mayonnaise
2 tomatoes (sliced)
2 cups baby spinach leaves (or lettuce)

Steps:

  • Stir together chicken, onion, BBQ sauce, shredded cheese, egg, and salt.
  • Stir in 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or cornflakes. The amount you need will depend on which of those you use and how thick your sauce is. Add up to 1/2 cup more as needed until the meat can hold together into patties.
  • Divide meat mixture into four portions, roll each portion into a ball, and then flatten into a patty.
  • Spray large skillet with cooking spray, and heat over medium-high heat. Place burger patties into hot skillet, and cook for approximately 7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
  • Place a slice of cheese over each burger to melt for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking (if desired). Spread a light layer of mayonnaise on both sides of the buns, add cooked patties, and top with spinach and tomato. Enjoy!

4 tbsp tomato ketchup

  • Make the sauce and marinade by mixing everything together in a large bowl, then put a few spoonfuls aside. Slice halfway into the thickest part of each breast and open it up like a book. His are made with the addition of lots of cooked vegetables to add flavor and moisture, while some breadcrumbs help keep the juices in. Make sure to cook over medium heat or they will dry out!! Have not allowed for cooling times - as they may differ.

1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 small red bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped

Steps:

  • Spray a large nonstick skillet with oil and heat over medium-high heat.
