BELGIAN WAFFLE ICE CREAM SANDWICHES

Belgian Waffle Ice Cream Sandwiches image

The simplest dessert idea you could possibly ever make. EVER.

Provided by Meghan Y.

Categories     Dessert

Time 2h

Number Of Ingredients 6

8 round Belgian waffles (I used a mix to make my Belgian waffles - no shame in that!)
2 to 3 pints of ice cream (pick your favorite flavors! also, think about what flavors would go well TOGETHER)
Mini chocolate chips
Rainbow sprinkles
Chocolate sprinkles
Any other topping you can think of! Ex. coconut flakes, white chocolate chips, nuts, etc

Steps:

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Place the waffles on the prepared sheet and freeze for 15 to 25 minutes. The waffles should be cold.
  • Let ice cream sit out for 10 to 15 minutes until it is softened.
  • Scoop a generous scoop and a half onto each waffle, then top with a second waffle to form a sandwich. I like to form layers so you can do half as a layer and top with another half - thick chocolate and vanilla, strawberry and cookie dough, etc. Have fun with it!
  • Return the sheet pan to the freezer and freeze for about 3 to 4 hours, or until frozen. Once frozen, cut each waffle sandwich into 4 smaller sandwiches. Roll the outside of the waffles in your choice of toppings. Freeze until ready to serve.

TRUE BELGIAN WAFFLES

BELGIAN WAFFLES

Belgian waffles image

Serve up a treat for breakfast time (or dessert) with easy homemade Belgian waffles. Top with whatever you fancy - fruit, ice cream, and bacon are all classics

Provided by Sophie Godwin - Cookery writer

Categories     Breakfast, Brunch, Dessert

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 11

240ml buttermilk
60g unsalted butter , melted
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
240g plain flour
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp caster sugar
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp bicarbonate of soda
oil , for greasing
berries , Greek yogurt and a drizzle of honey, streaky bacon and maple syrup, ice cream and chocolate sauce, peanut butter and banana

Steps:

  • Whisk the buttermilk, melted butter and vanilla together in a large bowl. Separate the egg and whisk the yolk into the buttermilk mixture. Whisk the egg white in a clean bowl until it forms stiff peaks - this will keep your waffles light and fluffy.
  • Weigh all the other dry ingredients into a bowl. Whisk in the wet ingredients to create a smooth batter then carefully but decisively fold through the egg white - don't worry if you are left with a few small lumps. Cover with cling film and leave the batter to sit for 30 mins, if you have time.
  • Lightly oil then heat your waffle maker (or see the tip below). Heat the oven to low, so you can keep each waffle warm while the next one cooks. Pour enough batter for one waffle (about a quarter) into the waffle maker, close the lid and cook until the waffle is golden brown on both sides and will come away from the maker easily, about 2 mins. Repeat with the remaining batter, then top with whatever you fancy.

Provided by Betty Crocker Kitchens

Categories     Breakfast

Time 15m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup whipping cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries or 1 package (10 oz) sliced frozen strawberries, thawed, drained
1/2 cup fresh or frozen (thawed and drained) blueberries
2 eggs
1 cup milk
2 1/3 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Additional berries, if desired

Steps:

  • In chilled medium bowl, beat whipping cream and powdered sugar with electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Fold in strawberries and blueberries.
  • Heat Belgian or regular waffle iron (Waffle irons without a nonstick coating may need to be brushed with vegetable oil or sprayed with cooking spray before batter for each waffle is added.)
  • In small bowl, beat eggs with electric mixer on high speed about 3 minutes or until thick and lemon colored. Beat in milk. Beat in Bisquick and granulated sugar on low speed until smooth. Gently fold in oil. Pour batter onto hot waffle iron. (Check manufacturer's directions for recommended amount of batter.) Close lid of waffle iron.
  • Bake about 5 minutes or until steaming stops. Carefully remove waffle. Top each waffle with berry cream and additional berries.
