1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter (do not use margarine), softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter (do not use margarine)
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons milk
2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, beat granulated sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla and the eggs with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon, until light and fluffy. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. In ungreased 13x9-inch pan, spread batter evenly.
  • Bake 20 to 23 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 45 minutes.
  • In 2-quart saucepan, melt 1/3 cup butter over low heat. Stir in 2/3 cup brown sugar; cook over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in milk; cook until mixture comes to a rolling boil. Remove from heat. Gradually stir in powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing well with spoon after each addition, until smooth and spreadable. If necessary, add more milk, a few drops at a time. Spread frosting over brownies. Immediately sprinkle with pecans. For brownies, cut into 6 rows by 6 rows.

2 cups white sugar
¾ cup solid vegetable shortening (such as Crisco®)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon baking soda
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 cups blackberries, drained
3 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Beat white sugar and shortening together in a bowl using an electric mixer until creamy; add eggs and mix well. Mix cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla extract into creamed butter mixture.
  • Whisk buttermilk and baking soda together in a separate bowl; stir into creamed butter mixture until thoroughly mixed. Slowly stir flour into butter-buttermilk mixture until batter is smooth; fold in blackberries. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a serving plate.
  • Combine brown sugar, evaporated milk, and butter in a saucepan; cook and stir mixture over medium heat until a small amount of brown sugar mixture dropped into cold water forms a soft ball. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Beat by hand until icing is thick. Spread icing quickly over top and sides of cake.

1/4 cup davinci gourmet classic blackberry syrup
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup blackberry jam
2 tablespoons grated lemon rind
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
2 tablespoons cream
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 lb butter, softened
1 large egg
1/2 cup granulated sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl combine butter, egg, and sugar until well blended.
  • Stir in syrup and flour mixture.
  • Add nuts and spread 1/2 dough into 9 inch square pan.
  • Mix blackberry jam with lemon rind and lemon juice.
  • Drop jam mixture in six places over the dough. Carefully spread the remaining dough on top. With a knife, swirl through the dough in two directions, making a ribbon design.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • Frost with caramel icing after cooling.
  • Heat butter in saucepan until it is a light brown color.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add syrup, cream and sugar to the saucepan.
  • Mix and frost blondies.
