BRAIN JELLO MOLD

Brain Jello Mold image

Perfect for Halloween parties and other spooky events, this brain Jello is easy to make and looks incredible.

Provided by Leah Valenti

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup water
4 oz unflavored gelatin
6 teaspoons herbal tea
2 cups boiling water
2 cup honey
1 cup evaporated milk
Red blue and green food coloring

Steps:

  • Empty the gelatin into a bowl. Mix with 1 cup water.
  • Boil 2 cups water and brew your herbal tea.
  • Add the honey and evaporated milk to the tea.
  • Add the food coloring, starting with 4 drops of each color and adjusting until you get your favorite shade of brain. If you're going for the same effect as in the video, I did 15 drops of each color.
  • Place brain mold in a bowl that will keep it steady. Pour mixture into your mold and refrigerate overnight.
  • Place a plate on top of the brain and flip it over. If you're having trouble getting it to slide out, you can run the brain mold under hot water to loosen it up.
  • Send a Snapchat of you eating brains!

BRAIN JELLO MOLD RECIPE RECIPE

Brain Jello Mold Recipe Recipe image

Provided by slebel

Number Of Ingredients 11

Cleaning the Mold:
Wash the entire inside cavity of the plastic brain mold using a soft sponge, dish soap, and warm water before each use.
Use care to avoid puncturing a hole in the thin areas of the plastic mold while washing and drying it.
Dry thoroughly before use.
Ingredients:
Three large, 6 ounce boxes of peach or watermelon flavored gelatin. (Using any other flavored gelatin will not result in a flesh toned appearance.)
One 12 ounce can of lite evaporated skimmed milk (99.5% fat free). No other milk will work!
Oil Cooking Spray (to lubricate the plastic mold)
Two teaspoons of vegetable oil (to lubricate the plastic mold)
Green Food Coloring
Three 1/2 cups of water(2 1/2 cups boiled, 1 cup cold)

Steps:

  • Spray a small amount of vegetable oil inside of the cavity of the plastic mold. Wipe off any excess oil. Place gelatin from the boxes into a large bowl. Add 2 ½ cups of boiling water. Stir gelatin with a whisk until it is completely dissolved, about 3 minutes. Stir in one cup of cold water. Add skimmed milk and stir for two minutes. (If a clear brain is desired, leave out the skimmed milk and add an additional 1 ½ cups of cold water) Add a few drops of green food coloring to produce the flesh tone color, re-stir. Pour gelatin mixture into the plastic brain mold. Leave approximately one inch space from the top of the mold. Wrap a towel around the bottom of the mold. The towel will help to keep the mold upright. Set the towel and mold in the refrigerator overnight. Extracting the hardened gelatin from the mold: Carefully shake the mold until the gelatin is loosened from the plastic mold. Put on a cooking glove, and place the open palm of your hand on the top of the gelatin, and turn the mold over. Shake the mold again. Continue to carefully shake the mold until the brain plops out onto your gloved hand. Place mold onto a plate or a platter. Cover the mold with a plastic food wrap and return the mold to the refrigerator until you are ready to put it on display and serve it.

This spooky Halloween treat is scarily realistic! A non-alcoholic version may also be made for the kiddies by substituting the peach schnapps with water.

Provided by Marie Angel Cat

Categories     Drinks Recipes     Shot Recipes     Jell-O® Shots

Time 5h20m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 brain-shaped gelatin mold
4 (3 ounce) packages peach flavored Jell-O® mix
3 cups boiling water
1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
1 ½ cups peach schnapps
4 drops blue food coloring
2 drops red food coloring
2 teaspoons water

Steps:

  • Lightly oil a brain-shaped gelatin mold.
  • Stir the peach gelatin mix with boiling water in a bowl to dissolve the gelatin. Allow to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes. Mix in the evaporated milk and peach schnapps; pour into the prepared mold. Refrigerate until set, 4 to 6 hours.
  • To decorate, dip the mold in very warm water (don't let the water enter the top of the mold) to loosen; invert the mold on a serving platter and lift to leave the brain in place. Mix blue and red food coloring in a small bowl with 2 teaspoons of water. Use a small clean paintbrush to paint the coloring into the grooves of the brain. Return the brain to the refrigerator until the food coloring sets. Serve cold.
