Sweet, Creamy Breakfast Grits image

Sweet, Creamy Breakfast Grits - A Southern staple perfected, restaurant grits pale in comparison to my recipe for Sweet, Creamy Breakfast Grits, and at a cheaper price!

Provided by Lola Osinkolu

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup water
1 cups milk or light cream (more as needed)
1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
1/2 cup regular grits or quick-cooking grits
2 tablespoons butter if using unsalted butter you will need to add half teaspoon salt
1-2 tablespoons+ honey (agave, maple, brown sugar or any other sweetener of your choice.)
strawberries or whole berries

Steps:

  • Add the water, milk, grits, and salt to a saucepan.
  • Bring mixture to a boil, over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  • Once the mixture has reached boiling, lower the heat and cook, stirring frequently, for 8-10 minutes or until thickened.
  • Stir in the butter
  • Serve warm with honey and topped with fruit.

Steps:

  • Add the milk, grits, honey, and salt to a saucepan.
  • Over medium heat, bring mixture to a boil, stirring frequently.
  • Once the mixture has reached boiling, lower the heat and cook, stirring frequently, for 8-10 minutes or until thickened.
  • Serve warm, topped with fruit.
