CHAPATI AND JAM SANDWICH RECIPE BY TASTY

Steps:
- On a chapati, generously spread cream cheese and jam. Cover with the other chapati.
- Add ghee on a hot pan and cook the chapati sandwich on both sides. Cut and serve.

CHAPATI RECIPE
This authentic chapati recipe yields one of the best Indian flatbread that I have tried. This chapati recipe includes a detailed explanation of how to cook it perfectly. There is also a collection of tricks and tips and with a video demonstration.

Steps:
- Combine all the ingredients. Continue kneading for 5 minutes until it is soft and pliable.
- Divide the dough into portions between 40g to 45g each.
- Apply some oil on the top of the dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it relax for fifteen to twenty minutes.
- Flour the work surface heavily.
- Flatten the dough with your palm. Dip the dough into some flour and shake off the excess.
- Roll out the dough with the rolling pin to a circle of 15cm/6inches in diameter. (Please refer to the video for demonstration).
- Set the stove to medium-high to heat the tawa.
- Place the chapati on the tawa. When some larger bubbles appear, turn it over to the other side and cook for another half a minute.
- When some brown spots are starting to form at the bottom, flip it over again so that the side with the brown spots is on top.
- Tap to deflate the air to avoid the chapati's contact point with the tawa from burning due to high heat.
- Flip the chapati a few times until you get the desired color and remove it from the tawa.
- Apply a light coating of ghee on the top side.

LEFTOVER CHAPATTI TEA TIME SNACKS RECIPE BY TASTY
Here's what you need: whole wheat chappati indian flatbread, flour, red chili powder, turmeric, cumin, ground coriander, chaat masala, garam masala, cumin seed, mustard seed, fennel seeds, carom seeds, asadetida, cooking oil, lemon juice, sugar, green chilli peppers, fresh coriander leaves and curry leaf, salt, water

Steps:
- In a bowl add gram flour, spices, oil, lemon juice, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Slowly add water until the batter is thick but lump-free
- Add coriander and green chilis and mix well.
- Set up steamer pot over water
- Arrange chapatti on a working surface. Work in batches ½ inch (1 ¼ cm) thick. Place one chappati over the next and repeat 3 times..
- Make 2 rolls, each of which should have 3 chapati. Cover all sides of the roll with thick batter.
- Put oil on the surface of the steamer and place the rolls in the steamer. Cook until it seems and you can remove a knife from the batter cleanly.
- Remove the rolls from the steamer and allow to cool down completely. Cut the rolls into 1- inch (2 ½ cm) pieces.
- Add 1 Tbsp oil to a heated pan. Add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 2 chopped green chillies, fresh curry leaves, and salt to taste.
- Add all the pieces of chapatti to the pan and stir over high heat until it crispy and coated with spices, about five minutes.
- Serve hot with fresh onion thin flakes and green chutney.
- RECIPE VARIATION
- You can use Maize, millet flour, buckwheat flour, or sorghum flour in place of Gram flour. Make sure to add more or less water accordingly. You may also skip the frying step.

HAM AND JAM SANDWICH
Nothing can compare to jambon-beurre, the iconic Parisian sandwich, which is really just a baguette with salted European butter and unsmoked ham. This rendition expands on that perfect trinity with a few additional pantry ingredients: Jam plays well with ham (like in a Monte Cristo), and Dijon and black pepper bring spice and spirit. Smoked ham adds yet another layer of savoriness, but any thinly sliced ham will work. The result is a hearty, complex but still delicate meal, appetizer or pick-me-up. While ham and jam sandwich doesn't roll off the tongue quite like jambon-beurre, you have permission to call it a ham-jam-sam, if you like.

- Cut the baguette into four equal pieces by cutting the baguette in half crosswise, then cutting each half in half. Slice each piece through the middle to split it. Arrange the pieces cut-side up.
- Spread butter on the tops and bottoms of each quarter. If using unsalted butter, sprinkle lightly with salt. Spread Dijon on one side and jam on the other. Pile the ham on the bottom pieces, then season with black pepper. Top the sandwiches and press firmly. Wrapped and refrigerated, the sandwich will keep for up to 1 day.
