CHERRY DANISH

Cherry Danish image

This Cherry Danish is simple to make and delicious, topped with cherries and drizzle with sweet icing.

Provided by Shauna

Categories     Breakfast

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 8 oz Block Cream Cheese (softened)
2 Tubes Flaky Crescent Rolls ((placed in freezer for 30 minutes))
1/2 tsp Almond Extract
1/2 cup Sugar
1 Cherry Pie Filling
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
3 Tbsp Whole Milk
Egg + 1 tbsp water, beaten together
1/4 Cup Slivered Almonds (Optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large bowl using a hand mixer, beat softened cream cheese, sugar and almond extract until smooth. Use a rubber spatula to clean the sides of the bowl as you are mixing. Set cream cheese mixture aside.
  • Open only one package of crescent rolls and remove them from the tube. Do not unroll them, instead keep them in a long cylinder shape and place on a cutting board. (The crescent rolls will dry out and not shape easily if left on the counter. This is why we recommend freezing them and then cooking in batches).
  • Using a sharp knife, cut the long cylinder into 12 equal pieces.
  • Using your fingers and thumbs, flatten each round circle in the middle. Place each circle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper about 2 inches apart. With a pastry brush, wash the edges and sides of the crescent rolls with egg wash.
  • Using a small spoon, place a small amount of cream cheese in the center of each crescent roll.
  • Using a small spoon, place a small amount of cherry pie filling on top of the cream cheese filling. Make sure to have at least 3 cherries on each danish or they will look flat and not full of fruit.
  • Bake in the oven for 10-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Whisk together powdered sugar and milk to create glaze. Drizzle each danish with glaze and serve warm.
  • Open your second tube of crescent rolls and repeat.

EASY CHERRY CREAM CHEESE DANISH

Easy Cherry Cream Cheese Danish image

Use flaky biscuit dough to make these simple & delicious cherry cream cheese danishes as a treat or brunch recipe!

Provided by Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Categories     Air Fryer

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 package flaky biscuit dough (such as Pillsbury Grands)
1/4 cup sugar
8 oz bar of cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon almond extract (you can also substitute vanilla extract)
21 oz. can of cherry pie filling
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cream together cream cheese, almond extract, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer and set aside.
  • Separate each biscuit in half so there will be 16 total slices. I started doing this with a bread knife but actually found it easier to find the center and pull each biscuit apart using my hands. Place the biscuits on a large baking sheet lined with a nonstick baking mat or parchment paper.
  • Use a small glass or the bottom of a 1/4 cup measuring cup dipped in sugar and press down to indent the middle of each biscuit.
  • Spread about a teaspoon of cream cheese on each biscuit and then add pie filling. Add about a teaspoon of cherries or about three cherries worth to the top.
  • Place the pan in the oven and bake for about 12-14 minutes, until lightly browned and cooked.
  • While the biscuits are baking, whisk together the glaze ingredients in a small dish. If the mixture is too thick, add a bit more milk until you get the consistency to drizzle.
  • Take them out of the oven, let cool, and drizzle your icing over each roll. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

CANNED BISCUIT CREAM CHEESE DANISHES

Canned Biscuit Cream Cheese Danishes image

How to make Canned Biscuits Cream Cheese Danishes

Provided by The Southern Lady

Categories     Breakfast

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 16 ounce can jumbo flaky biscuits with 8 biscuits in can.
1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 21 ounce can cherry pie filling (You can use whatever pie filling you like)
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 to 3 tablespoon milk (more or less until of pouring consistency)

Steps:

  • Remove biscuits from can and pull apart to make two biscuits out of each one. You will have 16 flat biscuit pieces. If you are making the muffin type danishes, roll the biscuit pieces out a little to fit in the cup of a standard sized muffin tin that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray.
  • If you are making the flat ones on a baking sheet, place a piece of parchment paper on the sheet and put the flat biscuit pieces on the paper. I kind of crimp the outsides of each flat piece kind of like you would a pie crust to hold the filling. Mix the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with a mixer and add about a tablespoon to each danish, then add pie filling on top. I make 8 of each and use all the cream cheese and pie filling.
  • Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes until biscuits are brown and done. Let cool and add glaze below if you like. Makes 16 danishes.
