1/4 cup light brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
3 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, add both sugars and water on medium-low heat and whisk until sugar is melted. Add cinnamon sticks and allow syrup to simmer for 10 minutes on low heat. Remove from heat, remove cinnamon sticks and stir in vanilla extract. Pour into an air-tight bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.

2 cinnamon sticks
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 shots espresso (or ½ cup strong coffee)
8 ounces milk (any kind)
1 tablespoon cinnamon brown sugar syrup
Ground cinnamon (optional garnish)

Steps:

  • Make the cinnamon brown sugar syrup. Combine the brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, and water in a small saucepan. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring regularly. Then let the syrup cool and remove the cinnamon sticks.
  • Pull two shots of espresso using your favorite espresso maker, or brew ½ cup of strong coffee.
  • Heat your milk on the stove or in the microwave. Then froth it using a whisk or mason jar.
  • Pour the espresso or coffee into your coffee mug. Add the cinnamon brown sugar syrup, and then pour the steamed milk on top. Spoon on milk foam and add a sprinkle of cinnamon as a garnish!

Continue whisking mixture until just before boiling and syrup-consistency, 3 to 5 more minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Cool syrup completely, at least 1 hour. Pour syrup into a glass container and seal; store in refrigerator for up to 10 days.
