CREAMY SMOOTH BODY AND HAND CREAM
Chef #248023 inspired me to make this after I made her Recipe #256951. Shea butter is known for its cosmetic properties as a moisturizer and emollient. As well as an anti-inflammatory agent. Shea butter can be effective at treating the following conditions: fading scars, eczema, burns, rashes, acne, severely dry skin, blemishes, dark spots, skin discolorations, chapped lips, stretchmarks, wrinkles and in lessening the irritation of psoriasis. Also provides natural UV sun protection but don't rely on it as a sunscreen because it filters out only little amounts of UV rays. Shea butter absorbs rapidly into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. It can be bought on line.

Steps:
- Place lots of ice in a large bowl and place a metal bowl on the ice.
- Mix the ingredients together in the metal bowl.
- Sprinkle the cornstarch over the oils.
- Whip with an electric hand mixer (not a stand mixer) and continue to beat.
- Adding in the essential oils desired.
- Continue to beat until light, fluffy thick and cool.
- Place in a glass jar, store out of sunlight and use as needed.

I got my original recipe from a nurse at the hospital in the late 1950's and adapted it to my liking over the years...this is how I make it now. RECIPE USUALLY YIELDS APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 60 OUNCES

Steps:
- Combine first 5 ingredients together in a LARGE mixing bowl.
- Add 1-cup of the water and mix with mixer on high for 3 minutes.
- Add the rest of the water 1-cup at a time; mixing for 3-minutes after each cup is added.
- After all the water is added, mix for approximately 15 minutes (so all ingredients are well blended and lotion becomes fluffy).
- Divide cream into clean dry jars for gift giving or for your self.
- You can put cream into small mason, ball or kerr jars with lids.
- NOTE from CinStraw: I use old antique AVON jars as they make nice gift jars. Just wash them out with mild soapy water, rinse well and dry completely before filling with lotion-cream. If it ends up on the thin side, then I call it "LOTION", if thicker (as it usually is) I call it "CREAM"...depends on the base you can find to use. I loved Unibase best BUT it has been discontinued, so we can not get it anymore. Therefore I have been using Aquabase instead for some time now. It is a base the doctors and nurses used to mix their medication creams with.
