CRAZY GOOD CRANBERRY SAUCE



Crazy Good Cranberry Sauce image

The perfect side to anyone's Thanksgiving meal.

Number Of Ingredients 7

3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup water
12 oz fresh cranberries (rinsed)
pinch salt
1 cinnamon stick
1 orange peel

Steps:

  • Over medium heat, combine sugar, orange juice, and water in a large saucepan and stir.
  • Add cranberries, salt, cinnamon stick, and orange peel. Over medium heat, bring to a simmer, stirring frequently.
  • Continue cooking for about 10 minutes, or until all (or most) of the cranberries have popped.
  • Let cool for a minimum of 30 minutes. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Making your own cranberry sauce is really easy, and you can do it a few days in advance. Plus, this one calls for only three ingredients

Number Of Ingredients 3

100g light muscovado sugar
100ml orange juice, fresh or from a carton
250g pack fresh or frozen cranberries

Steps:

  • Tip 100g light muscovado sugar and 100ml orange juice into a pan, then bring to the boil.
  • Stir in 250g fresh or frozen cranberries, then simmer until tender but still holding their shape - this will take about 5 mins if using frozen cranberries or 8-10 mins if using fresh.
  • The sauce will thicken as it cools. Will keep in the fridge for 1 week. On the day, bring to room temperature before serving.
