CRISPY BAKED AVOCADO FRIES



Crispy Baked Avocado Fries image

Up your appetizer or snack game with this quick and easy recipe for crispy avocado fries baked to golden brown perfection.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 large avocados (See Kelly's Note)
1 lime
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Tajin seasoning (optional)
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
Cooking spray
Ketchup or Ranch dressing, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour with the Tajin seasoning (optional). In a second shallow dish, whisk together the eggs. Add the breadcrumbs to a third shallow dish.
  • Pit, peel and slice the avocados into 1/2-inch wedges. Squeeze the lime juice on top of the avocado slices to coat them.
  • Dredge the avocado slices in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, then dip them in the eggs and then into the breadcrumbs, coating the avocado slices on all sides.
  • Arrange the breaded avocado slices on the baking sheet then spray them with cooking spray.
  • Bake the avocado fries for 10 minutes, flip them once and spray them again with the cooking spray then bake them an additional 10 to 15 minutes until they're golden brown.
  • Serve the fries with your choice of dipping sauces.

Pour 1 tablespoon oil in sheet tray or baking dish; set aside.Squeeze fresh lime juice on avocado slices to preserve their color while baking (this step is optional). Season with salt, pepper. Dredge in flour then dip in egg and coat in panko breadcrumbs. Be sure the avocado slices are coated very well in the panko.
  • Place in a single layer on the greased sheet pan. Drizzle with the remaining oil or spray with cooking spray. This will help the avocado slices crisp in the oven.
  • bake for 15 minutes or until the avocados are golden and crispy. If desired, more oil can be drizzle while they are baking for additional crispness.
  • Serve with my chipotle dipping sauce (get the recipe here) or with ranch, ketchup, or your favorite dip!

  • Prepare the breading assembly line: Prepare the ingredients for the breaded coating in 3 separate wide, shallow bowls. Whisk the flour, salt, and pepper in the first bowl, beat the eggs or place the aquafaba in the second bowl, and place the breadcrumbs in the third bowl. Arrange the bowls in an assembly line: flour mixture, eggs or aquafaba, then breadcrumbs. Place a baking sheet next to the bowl of breadcrumbs.
  • Slice avocados: Use a chef's knife to halve the avocados, cutting from the stem end to the base. Remove and discard the pits. Cut each half into 6 (1/2-inch-wide) slices, and remove and discard the skin.
  • Flour the avocado slice: Working with 1 avocado slice at a time, coat in flour, then egg, and finally breadcrumbs. Start with coating it in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
