OVEN BACON

Oven Bacon image

Cooking bacon in the oven gives you perfectly crispy slices without any flipping or fussing, and the cleanup is superspeedy. It's also the best way to make bacon for a crowd. You can cook the bacon directly on aluminum foil-lined baking sheets or on a wire rack set on top of the baking sheets. The latter method will give you extracrispy bacon, but you'll have to wash that greasy rack. Your choice!

Provided by Ali Slagle

Categories     breakfast, meat, side dish

Time 20m

Yield 4 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 1

1 pound bacon

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 450 degrees. Arrange the bacon in a single layer on 2 aluminum foil-lined rimmed baking sheets, or, for extracrispy bacon, arrange on 2 wire racks set over 2 foil-lined rimmed baking sheets.
  • Bake until the bacon is browned and starts to ripple, or to desired doneness, 10 to 20 minutes. (Because the cook time depends on the thickness of the bacon and how you like it cooked, start checking doneness at the 10-minute mark.)
  • Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

OVEN-BAKED BACON

Oven-Baked Bacon image

I always bake bacon in the oven! You just need to plan a bit ahead as the bacon takes longer. With baking, the bacon grease stays nice and clean and you can reuse it to saute vegetables or eggs for extra flavor.

Provided by barbara

Categories     Side Dish

Time 35m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 1

1 (16 ounce) package bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place bacon slices one next to the other on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven. Flip bacon slices with kitchen tongs and return to oven. Bake until crispy, 15 to 20 minutes more. Thinner slices will need less time, about 20 minutes total. Drain on a plate lined with paper towels.

EXTRA CRISPY OVEN BAKED BACON

Extra Crispy Oven Baked Bacon image

Want to bake thick cut bacon? You totally can, but you will need to increase the baking time and just keep an eye on it so that it doesn't burn! Don't forget to rate the recipe, and let me know what you think about this Oven Baked Bacon in the comments below. I just love hearing from you and your reviews/comments really help other people that visit This Mess is Ours!

Provided by This Mess Is Ours

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 2

1 pack gluten free bacon, we really like Applegate, not thick cut
black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Line a baking sheet with tin foil then place a baking rack on top. (I have a rack for cooling cookies that I use for making bacon too.) Arrange the bacon on the rack in an even layer without the bacon slices touching or overlapping. Sprinkle fresh cracked peper over the top according to taste.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F and immediatly place the pan with the bacon in the oven. Let cook for 15 minutes before checking on the bacon for desired crispness. I usually go about 17-18 minutes because we like it really crispy.

OVEN FRIED BACON - NO MESS, NO CLEANUP!

Oven Fried Bacon - No Mess, No Cleanup! image

This is my favorite way of making bacon, no mess, no cleanup! Comes out just like fried bacon crispy, fries in the oven in it's own bacon grease. The pepper is optional.

Provided by DoryJean54

Categories     Breakfast

Time 20m

OVEN BAKED BACON

Oven Baked Bacon image

Baking bacon in the oven is the simplest way to make a large or small amount of crispy bacon -- with minimal cleanup! This easy bacon recipe comes out perfect every time.

Provided by Melissa Griffiths - Bless this Mess

Categories     Breakfast

Time 23m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 1

Bacon, traditional cut and about 12 ounces per pan

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil (have the foil overhang the edges so that the grease doesn't get onto your pan). Lay the bacon onto the foil in a single layer. If the edges of the raw bacon overlap a little, that's okay.
  • Put the bacon in the oven, and cook for about 18 to 22 minutes. You want the bacon to be cooked through but not too dark, so keep an eye on it toward the end of baking. The actual baking time will depend on the thickness of your bacon and how crispy you like it.
  • When the bacon is cooked, take it out of the oven. Remove the bacon from the pan, and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb extra grease.
  • You can pour the extra grease in the pan into a heat-resistant container and save it for another use.
  • Once the pan is cool, simply throw away the foil.
  • Enjoy in your favorite recipes, or eat as is.

CRISPY OVEN BACON AND EGGS

Crispy Oven Bacon and Eggs image

Bacon browns and crisps evenly in the oven without the hassle of flipping slices on the stovetop, while eggs can oven-fry alongside for perfect sunny-side-up runny yolks and tender whites. The oven's encompassing heat helps egg whites set on top before the yolks start to stiffen. Make sure to have the eggs sit at room temperature before cracking them into the hot pan: It ensures they'll cook quickly and evenly.

Provided by Genevieve Ko

Categories     breakfast, brunch, main course

Time 30m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 large eggs
8 bacon slices
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Toast, for serving

Steps:

  • Take the eggs out of the refrigerator. Place a rack in the center of the oven, and heat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • Arrange the bacon on a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer, spacing evenly. Roast in the center of the oven until the fat renders and the bacon curls, about 8 minutes. Very thin slices will cook more quickly; thick-cut ones will take longer.
  • Take the pan out of the oven and quickly flip the bacon and move to one side of the pan. Crack the eggs onto the other side, then immediately return the pan to the oven and roast until the whites are just set, the yolks are still runny and the bacon is brown and crisp, 2 to 5 minutes longer. If you prefer medium or hard egg yolks or extra-crisp bacon, cook a few minutes more, but take out the bacon before it burns.
  • Using a spatula, cut the eggs apart. Slide them off the pan and onto plates right away to stop the yolks from solidifying. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Drain the bacon on paper towels, then add to the plate along with toast. Serve immediately.

OVEN-BAKED BEEF BACON

Oven-Baked Beef Bacon image

Beef bacon is amazing! It's fatty and flavorful and makes an excellent alternative to pork bacon.

Provided by Vered DeLeeuw

Categories     Breakfast

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 1

8 oz beef bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  • Arrange the bacon slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. It's okay if they touch each other, but they should not be stacked on top of each other.
  • Place the pan in the oven and bake the strips until well browned, 15-20 minutes.
  • Be careful when removing the pan from the oven - its bottom will have quite a bit of hot rendered fat.
  • Using tongs, remove the strips to a plate lined with paper towels. Serve immediately.

  • If making an amount of bacon that will fit on a single baking sheet without overlapping (about 6 to 8 slices, depending upon the bacon and sheet), place a rack in the center of your oven. If making a larger amount, place the racks in the upper and lower thirds. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with foil for easy clean up (if you prefer to bake the bacon without foil, leave the foil off), then place an ovenproof baking rack on top. Spritz the baking rack lightly with nonstick spray. Arrange the bacon in a single layer on the baking rack.
  • Bake until you reach your desired level of crispness. This could be as early as 12 minutes if you are using thinner bacon and like it less crisp or 20 minutes or more if you using a thicker cut and like your bacon really crispy. If baking two racks at once, rotate their positions halfway through.
  • Once cooked, immediately transfer the bacon to a paper-towel-lined plate and lightly pat dry (this keeps it from getting soggy). Let cool just enough so that you don't (completely) burn your tongue. Devour immediately or use to top salads, pastas, and sandwiches, or in any of these recipes.

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil in order to catch the grease for easy clean up. Line each bacon slice on the baking sheet from end to end. Leave about 1/8 to 1/4 inch spacing in between each slice to allow for caramelization. Option to use parchment paper; however, this will require extra clean up if the bacon fat gets under the baking sheet.
  • Bake bacon in the sheet pan at 400 degrees for 14-15 minutes. May take less time if using a thin cut bacon. Adjust by a few minutes until bacon is your desired level of crispiness. Remove from the oven and place cooked bacon strips on a paper towel lined plate to soak up extra oil or a cooling rack. Save bacon grease to use as a cooking oil.
