Steps:
- Brown celery, onion and pepper in bacon fat until tender.
- Combine all ingredients in sauce pan.
- Cover and simmer until cooked through.
- Place mixture on hamburger buns.
- Place in warm oven until warm.
DAD'S HAMBURGER GRAVY
This is one of my favorite 'cheap meal' recipes that I learned from my Southern cookin' Dad. Creamy hamburger gravy with just the right blend of spices is perfect served over homemade biscuits, mashed potatoes, rice, fried potatoes.. just about anything!

Steps:
- Crumble the ground beef into a large deep skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until evenly browned. Drain most of the grease, leaving just enough to coat the pan. Add the onions, and cook for a few more minutes.
- Pour 4 cups of the milk into the pan, and stir to scrape up any bits of food that could burn on the bottom of the pan. Mix in the bouillon, butter, sage, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Mix the flour into the last cup of milk until smooth. Slowly pour into the skillet, stirring constantly. Simmer for a few minutes to thicken. If the gravy is too thick, thin with a little bit of milk. If it is too thin, simmer longer, or add more flour. Taste and adjust seasonings before serving.

DAD'S COLA BURGERS

- Combine saltine crumbs, 1/4 cup cola, 3 tablespoons salad dressing, egg, Parmesan cheese and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add beef; mix well. Shape into six 3/4-in.-thick patties (the mixture will be moist); sprinkle with remaining salt. Combine remaining 1/4 cup cola and 3 tablespoons salad dressing., Grill patties, covered, over medium heat 3 minutes per side. Brush with cola mixture. Grill, brushing and turning occasionally, until a thermometer reads 160°, 3-4 minutes longer. Serve on buns; if desired, top with lettuce, tomato and onion.

DAD'S HALF-HAMBURGERS
A Ground beef mixture that is spread on both halves of a hamburger bun, broiled, and served open faced. Half Hamburgers come from my childrens' Dad's family. It's a mixture of all the things you'd probably put in/on a hamburger, spread on the halves of the hamburger buns. It's so easy that kids can make it, although they'll need adult help with the broiling. Men love it too, so it would be great for a poker game or Superbowl party. Get "moosh-ing" and enjoy!

Steps:
- Mix the ingredients in a bowl; "moosh" by hand - clean hands, if you please - until spreadable.
- Spread mixture hamburger buns; both bottoms and tops.
- Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Broil on second rack of oven for 3 - 5 minutes.
- Check center with small knife for doneness.
- Times may vary slightly from oven to oven.

Steps:
- Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in the celery, onion, green bell pepper, and garlic. Cook and stir until the vegetables have softened, about 5 minutes. Add the ground beef, increase the heat to medium-high, and stir until crumbly and browned, about 10 minutes.
- Stir in the ketchup, chili sauce, water, parsley, vinegar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, mustard powder, chili powder, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

- In a bowl, combine the first 7 ingredients. Crumble beef and sausage over mixture; mix well. Shape into 8 patties. , Grill, uncovered, over medium-hot heat for 4-6 minutes on each side or until no longer pink. Serve on buns.

Steps:
- In a large bowl, combine beef, catsup, egg, onion and salt; mix well. Form into 8 patties; flatten to desired thickness. Place bread crumbs in a shallow pan. Pat each side of patties in crumbs until coated. Place patties in a lightly greased 13"x9" baking pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, turning over after 8 minutes. Patties may also be pan-fried in a lightly greased skillet over medium heat. Cook on each side for 6 to 8 minutes, until lightly browned. Serve on buns. Tip: A muffin tin makes a terrific condiment server. Fill each of the cups with something different...catsup, mustard, relish, hot sauce, horseradish and pickle slices are all ideal toppings for sandwiches and burgers.
