250 g plain flour
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
120 ml soya milk
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 garlic clove
1 teaspoon dairy-free butter

Steps:

  • Sift the flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl.
  • Make a hole in the middle and slowly need the dough for 8-10 minutes.
  • Put the dough in an oiled bowl and cover it with a damp tea towl. Put in a warm place for 10-15 minutes.
  • Break the dough into 4 balls.
  • Heat a baking sheet under the grill.
  • Roll the balls into teardrop shapes and sprinkle the garlic on and press into the dough.
  • Put under the grill for 1-2 minutes.
  • Brush with dairy free spread and serve hot.

Super Easy Naan Bread image

My usual naan recipe calls for milk and an egg, but since I had neither in the house tonight, I improvised. This is a super simple 5-ingredient naan bread and it came out great!

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 cups warm water
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups flour, plus a few tbsp for workspace

Steps:

  • Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add salt and flour. Mix thoroughly. Knead dough on a floured workspace about 20 times and form into a tight ball. Put dough in a well oiled bowl and cover with a damp towel.
  • Put in a warm place to rise for 30-45 minutes. Dough won't rise much, but it doesn't need to.
  • Turn dough out onto a floured workspace. Divide dough into 8 pieces and roll out with a rolling pin to about 1/8" thick.
  • Grill naan pieces on a grill or electric griddle. In a pinch, a frying pan sprayed with some nonstick cooking spray will work. Grill for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  • This recipe yields a very soft, chewey naan. Just the way I like it!

  • When dough has doubled in size, divide into eight small balls. Heat a skillet over medium high and stir together garlic and oil.
  • Roll each ball to 1/4-inch thickness and place in hot pan, one at a time, brushing with garlic/oil mixture. When dough has started to bubble, flip to other side and brush again with oil. Sprinkle with coarse salt and herbs. Repeat with remaining dough.
