DEEP-DISH APPLE PIE WITH CRUMBLE TOPPING
I got this recipe from lots of different sources. I couldn't find one I liked. So took what I liked and added my own spin and this is what came out. I love this recipe, because it has all the flavors of fall. A little trick I learned from my grandmother: use different types of apples for the best flavor. I use Granny Smith, Braeburn, and Golden Delicious, but you can use whatever you like. I serve it as is, but encourage the use of ice cream, whipped cream, or whatever addition the occasion calls for.

EASY DEEP DISH COBBLER
This receipe uses a Krusteaz crumb cake mix. It is sooo good an so easy. The recipe is written for a berry cobbler, but i like to use 3 cups of canned peaches and one cup frozen berries. The recipe is really flexible and you can use any kind of fruit.

GRANNIE'S DEEP DISH APPLE COBBLER RECIPE

Steps:
- Combine 3 cups flour and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles peas. Add ice water, a few tablespoonfuls at a time, until the dough comes together and pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Divide the dough in half, and roll out one portion. Fit into the bottom of a square baking dish and set aside. Combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, one cup water and lemon juice in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce heat, simmer until the apples are tender - about 5 minutes. In a small bowl, combine the 3 tablespoons flour and 3 tablespoons water to form a paste. Stir the paste into the apple mixture and pour into the baking dish. Slice butter over the top of the fruit. Roll out the remaining dough portion and place atop filling. Crimp to seal the edges and make a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape and keep the cobbler from boiling over. Bake at a 350 degree oven for one hour on a baking sheet. Cool on rack - serve with vanilla ice cream while warm!
