HOMEMADE APPLESAUCE RECIPE (GLUTEN-FREE, VEGAN)
Making your own homemade applesauce cannot get any easier than this! All you need is 4 ingredients and 30 minutes to get smooth, tasty applesauce that's slightly sweetened with a hint of cinnamon! Naturally gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan too.

Steps:
- Peel, core, and cut the apples into small cubes.
- Combine the cubed apples, sugar, cinnamon, and water in a large skillet. Mix well and bring to a boil, before reducing heat to medium and covering the skillet.
- Let the apples cook for approximately 20 minutes, until they are soft and translucent and can easily be mashed with a fork or a slotted spoon.
- Transfer the apples to a high-speed blender or food processor and blend until smooth (skip this step if you prefer a chunkier applesauce).

Steps:
- Peel, core and chop the apples. (I love the corer slicer combo. Makes it so much easier. (affiliate link))
- Place peels in medium pot with 1/2 cup water.
- Place apples in large pot with 1 cup water.
- Cover and cook each on medium high for 10 - 15 minutes, stirring ever few minutes, until it is the mushy-ness you want.
- Use a potato masher (pictured above) and mash the apples.
- Use a blender or food processor to blend up the peels.
- Mix the two parts together. The peel give extra flavor and sweetness to your applesauce. So yummy!

- Place raisins and hot water in a small bowl; set aside. , In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt and spices; add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce and water. Drain raisins; fold into batter with the walnuts. , Transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake at 300° for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Place pan on a wire rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar if desired. Serve warm or cold.
