2 fluid ounces gin
4 fluid ounces tonic water
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 lime wedge

Steps:

  • Place the ice cubes in a tall, narrow glass with the ice coming near the top. Pour gin, tonic water, and lime juice over the ice. Stir well with a long-necked spoon. Garnish with lime wedge, and serve immediately.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons finely grated peeled fresh ginger
2 cups tonic water
1 cup gin
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
24 ice cubes
Fresh ginger slices
Lime wedges

Steps:

  • Combine first 3 ingredients in heavy small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Increase heat and boil until reduced to 1 1/3 cups, about 3 minutes. Cool syrup; then strain. (Can be made 1 week ahead. Cover; chill.)
  • Mix tonic water, gin, lime juice and 1/2 cup ginger syrup in glass measuring cup. Taste, adding more syrup, if desired (reserve remaining syrup for another use). Divide ice among 4 tall glasses. Pour gin-and-tonic mixture over. Garnish with fresh ginger slices and lime wedges, if desired.

1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup gin
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (from 1 to 2 lemons)
1 1/2 cups tonic water

Steps:

  • Bring the hibiscus flowers, sugar and 1/2 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a small bowl and refrigerate until chilled, at least 1 hour or overnight.
  • Strain the hibiscus syrup into a liquid measuring cup, reserving some of the flowers for garnish. Combine the gin, lemon juice and 1/4 cup of the hibiscus syrup in a small pitcher. Stir in the tonic. Add more hibiscus syrup to taste.
  • Fill 4 glasses with ice. Pour in the cocktail and garnish with the reserved hibiscus flowers.

1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric, such as Diaspora Pragati
1/4 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
3 to 4 ounces gin, such as St. George or Stranger & Sons
Tonic water, such as Fever-Tree or Svami

Steps:

  • In a cocktail shaker or Mason jar, combine lemon zest and juice, turmeric, ginger, gin, and 4 to 6 ice cubes. Seal lid tightly and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds. Strain (through a fine-mesh strainer, if using jar) into two ice-filled glasses. Top each with tonic to taste (4 to 5 ounces); serve.
