FRUIT FLY/GNAT TRAP
I detest any type of bug or fly in my house, so when I saw a newscast regarding fruit flies, my interest perked up quite quickly! (I am the one that runs after everyone to close the screen doors!!) They lay their eggs in and amoungst ripe fruit....so one way to deter this is by washing your fruit right away and storing in the fridge. Obviously....your chances of getting hords of fruit flies are greater if you have fruit trees on your property!! Sorry for you...but this application will definately help relieve you of this burden!!

- Place a little piece of fruit in a bowl and double cover with some Saran Wrap.
- With a knife, poke two small holes in the wrap and leave it on the counter for 5 - 7 days (or basically until you can't stand looking at it any more).
- Discard the fruit (prefereably outside!) and repeat.

- Mouthwash and Salt Spray Mix. This is another homemade mosquito repellent that uses ingredients you already have at home. You can use this on the skin or even spray it around your tent if you are going camping.
- Lavender Oil, Vanilla, and Lemon Juice Spray. While the smell of lavender might have a soothing effect on us, it is actually very repelling to mosquitos.
- Apple Cider Vinegar and Essential Oils Mix. Apple cider vinegar itself isn’t a bug repellent. Mixing it with essential oils like peppermint, cinnamon, or lavender oil, however, makes it a very effective bug spray.
- Tea Tree Oil Mix. Tea tree oil, otherwise known as melaleuca oil, is a popular Australian essential oil known for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties.
- Cinnamon Oil Mix. Cinnamon is more than just a great ingredient for your favorite coffee break pastry. As an essential oil, it is also an effective ingredient to one of the easiest homemade mosquito repellent recipes you could make.
- Fresh Herb Mix. If all these essential oils are a bit challenging for you to find, then fresh herbs also make for an excellent alternative. They contain low toxicity and have properties that help repel those mosquitos and other tiny pests.

- Aloe Vera and Olive Oil. According to a study published in the International Journal of Mosquito Research, aloe vera gel and olive oil have a mosquito repellent property when mixed.
- Lemon Eucalyptus Oil Mosquito Repellant. Take 10 ml lemon eucalyptus oil, and 100 ml carrier oil (coconut or olive oil) in a clean bowl. Mix distilled water and vodka into the solution to make it lighter.
- Tea Tree and Coconut Oil. Add 30 ml coconut oil and 10 drops of tea tree oil to a spray bottle – their astringent property and strong scent repel mosquitoes for good.
- Lemongrass and Rosemary Oil. Take a clean spray bottle, add 10 drops of lemongrass oil and 10 drops of rosemary oil. Mix 60 ml carrier oil (coconut or olive oil) with boiled water into a spray bottle.
- Vanilla, Lemon Juice, and Lavender Oil. Mix 10-12 drops of lavender oil in 3-5 drops of vanilla extracts. Add 2-4 tablespoons of lemon juice to the solution and fill in a clean spray bottle with distilled water.
- Neem and Coconut Oil. Take 10 drops of neem oil, 30 ml of coconut oil, and boiled water, in a spray bottle. Mix well and use this natural mosquito repellant as per your need.
- Isopropyl Alcohol and Peppermint Essential Oil. Mix 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil, lemon essential oil, peppermint essential oil, 1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol, 3 oz water, and 3 oz witch hazel in a spray bottle.
- Cinnamon Oil. Mix 2 teaspoon cinnamon oil and 2 ounces of water in a clean spray bottle. Shake well to blend the ingredients. Spray it on an open area of your body.
- Thyme Essential Oil. Mix 5 drops of thyme oil with 2 ounces of water. Fill this solution in a clean spray bottle. How it works: According to an animal study, when applied to hairless mice, it provided 91 percent protection against malarial mosquitoes.
- Soybean Oil. Take 2 Teaspoon soybean oil, and mix a small amount of lemongrass oil into this mixture. This blend works great against repelling mosquitoes.
