COPYCAT GOLDEN CORRAL BREAD PUDDING



Copycat Golden Corral Bread Pudding image

No need to stand in the buffet line for this sweet treat. This homemade version is made with cubed French bread and served with a sweet white sauce.

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup melted butter
2 eggs
1/3 cup dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups cubed stale French bread
White Sauce
1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon flour
1 dash salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 8x11 baking dish. Combine the milk and butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook to 170 degrees F then remove from the heat and set aside to cool. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs with an electric mixer until frothy. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt and mix well. When the milk mixture is cool, add to the eggs (if it is warm it will make the eggs curdle). Add the bread cubes to the egg mixture and stir with a spoon until just coated in the custard. Transfer the bread pudding to the prepared baking dish. Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes or until set in the middle. Remove from the oven and let cool while you prepare the sauce. For the sauce, combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and whisk well over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and cook for 3-4 minutes stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and let the sauce cool for 5 minutes. Pour half of the sauce evenly over the bread pudding. Serve the remaining sauce on the side of the bread pudding. Best served warm.

  • Sprinkle raisins on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake in a water bath at 400 degrees for 75 to 90 minutes.

2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup butter or margarine
¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup whipping cream
1 teaspoon rum flavoring

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees;. Place bread cubes in buttered 9-inch square baking pan.
  • In large bowl, beat eggs and cinnamon; add remaining ingredients except Butter Rum Sauce. Pour evenly over bread, moistening completely.
  • Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool. Serve warm with Butter Rum Sauce. Refrigerate leftovers.
  • Butter Rum Sauce: In saucepan, melt 1/4 cup butter or margarine; add 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar and 1/2 cup whipping cream. Boil rapidly 8 to 10 minutes; add 1 teaspoon rum flavoring. Serve warm. (Makes about 1 cup)

3 Cups French bread cubed and partially dried
1/2 Cup melted butter
2 Cups whole milk
2 eggs beaten
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 Cup brown sugar (dark)
1 Cup whole milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 Cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon flour
dash of salt

Steps:

  • Cooking Directions Scald milk and butter together. Remove and set aside. Beat eggs, add brown sugar and cinnamon. When milk is cool enough add egg mixture making sure that the egg mixture does not curdle. Add bread cubes and stir carefully, do not beat. Place in an 8"x11" well−oiled pan. Place in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes, check with toothpick. When done set aside. WHITE SAUCE: Mix all ingredients together and bring to a boil for 3 − 4 minutes, stirring constantly. Set aside for 5 minutes, pour about 1/2 mixture on warm bread pudding and place the remainder of sauce in a serving bowl for those who desire that little extra. I have been making this for decades. Great, easy way to make bread pudding, I have made this with all and any type of bread(except for rye and pumpernickel.

3 cups bread cubes, 6 to 8 slices
3 eggs, i have used egg substitutes with success
3 cups warm water
1 (14 ounce) can condensed milk, i have also used fat-free and low fat condensed milk
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 9 inch square pan with butter or cooking spray.
  • Place bread cubes in pan.
  • In a large bowl beat eggs.
  • Stir in rest of ingredients.
  • Pour over bread cubes.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes.
  • Serve warm or chilled.
  • Really good with whipped cream.
  • Refrigerate leftovers.
